Hi all,

I was able to snag some tickets to the Sigmar GT for June next year.

A lot can change in that time but I've decided to start a new army and get it ready for the GT.

With that I really want to make sure my list is thorough and would appreciate feedback. Given it's the GT I'm expecting *Bent* lists/opponents. With that in mind I want to have a strong lean to competition. I'll be there to win.

My current musings:

Lord-Celestant w/ Staunch Defender
Lord-Relictor w/ Lightning Chariot & LB Std
Drakesworn Templar w/ Mirrorshield
Lord-Veritant
Lord-Relictor w/ Lightning Chariot & LB Std
Paladin-Decimators x5
Paladin-Protectors x5
Liberators x10
Liberators x10
Liberators x5
Prosecutors x3
Hammerstrike Force Warscroll Battalion

43 Models 122 Wounds 2000 Points

Having never played SCE not sure where to start.

Criticism welcome. Also any model is an option!

Thanks.

My first question would be, what do you want to do with the list. It seems a bit disjointed.

Lord-Celestant w/ Staunch Defender

Drakesworn Templar w/ Mirrorshield
Lord-Veritant

These three especially. What made you chose these three, instead of say, the Lord on Stardrake and a Castelant? The foot lord is going to die pretty quickly, and that means you lose a scoring asset as well as a major buff piece and your general

And with the 2 relictors, I'm assuming you want some mobility. Get those paladins into combat, start soulmacing people to death? You have a slow buff piece with the Lord, and he'll need to be up there to keep those guys safe, which makes him even more squishy.

You don't seem to have much in the way of range, and again, I'm assuming your plan is to drop in the procecutors, then hammerstrike in the heavy hitters. That's exactly what anyone looking at that will think. So I'd deploy in a way that means you aren't dropping a thing near anything valuable, and I'll shoot off the attackers when they are exposed. Also, you'll be really exposed to an alpha strike, or a lack of targets with a split deployment.

If you are planning on doing something with the liberators, then you need more. You need the list to be built around them, making them hard to hit and kill, and use the banner/relictors to move stuff.

And again, as its worth mentioning twice, no real shooting. you need to get rid of buff pieces before they hurt you, and start messing with your frankly average bravery.

This looks like a list that wants a bit of everything, and as I've learned playing stormcast, you need to have a plan. They are awesome when you have a way of playing. TGA forums are a great source dude, so start there for a bit of inspiration.

Oh and start looking for an ally for cheap bodies. I tend to go Seraphon as I like the links (the shields are made of stardrake hide) between the armies. And skinks are great for blocking people dropping in on me and my Stardrake

Thank you for the feedback dude. Really appreciate it!

I've made a few tweaks.

I've looked to incorporate the ranged, and for character sniping Longstrikes are perfect.
I will sit a griff-hound with them to deny early alpha whilst also close to the Stardrake.
All starts on the table so unluckily to get first turn, but my force if more defensive, and reactionary. Using the Relictor to get the the right paladins into the best combat for them. Worst case I could trade out a Libby unit for another Relictor and go for a Triumph instead, but I think I need the wounds more.
Low character counts, but I hope the Longstrike threat should be enough to counter that.

Also do you have to pay for the Aethwing that comes with the Longstrike prime?

Thanks.

Ok dude, so thoughts...

I'm not sure on the drakesworn. It's not as good as the Lord, so I'd be looking at what you drop for.him.

You do have to pay for the birds so you are over.

4 units of 5 man libs? I'd either make one a 10, or drop one and take a castellant so your Stardrake gets a buff.

You have three units of slow paladins. You'll be reliant on lightning chariot and that is one a turn on a 3+. You'll be in trouble. Theres a formation, I think Hammerstrike force, that can help you. But again, you need to decide if that is what you want the list to do.

Stormcast are ace, they are a very toolset like army, in that we have ways to do things in different ways. But you can talk into a trap of taking a bit of everything and that rarely.works.

For me, I like the Stardrake. So my list starts with a Lord on Drake. Then I work out how.best to make it survive. So a castalent giving him a 2+. Then I look at what he buffs. Its dracoth riders. So some of those go in.

My list is 'deal with my drake, whilst I shoot you' so I'd look at judicators or longstrikes.

Does this all make sense? It's about what your game.plan is. If that is paladins to the face, which is fun, then look at Hammerstrike

Thanks again my man.

I really just need to start playing to understand what I actually like and focus on that as a tactic!

I totally understand what you're saying though.

Much appreciated!

Hi dude,

I've finally settled on a list.

It's focus is infantry heavy and a defensive line with the 25 liberators.

Supported by the Relictor, Castellant and Celestant.

I've tried to keep my Celestant as survivable as possible with the Artifact options. ~Mortal wounds maybe an issue.

My Longstrikes will sit behind the defensive liberator line, taking out enemy characters as needed. The Griff helps to counts early alphas and give my Longstrikes a chance to take them out.

The Paladin's are self explanatory. The only thing I'm not certain of is where I deploy them. I.e as Scion of the Storm. ~ I imagine this will be game dependent.

Will stick to this for the time being unless I've missed anything glaringly obvious!

To the paint station!

Hi all,

So I've played a handful of games now and I've made a few tweaks. The main issues I came across was predominately mobility, whilst utilising the Scions of the Storm, finding a 3+ to bring in 2-3 paladin units was too risky.

As such I have two alternative lists I'd like help comparing please.

The main difference is using the Hammer-Strike Battalion to guarantee getting my paladins in. Including the prosecutors for some limited mobility. Whilst trading out some liberators.

Or alternatively, relying on two Lord-Relictor's lightning chariot prays to use when needed, whilst my footslogging army hides behind a Paladin Protector barrier of anti-shooting.
