If you like epic samurai violence, bloodshed, and flying severed limbs, then this is the movie for you.

Currently playing in select AMC theaters and also streaming online on a number of services, PS4, Amazon, On Demand, etc.

I thought it was a rather good adaptation of the manga series and along with 13 assassins it's pretty high up on the list of my favorite samurai movies. Certainly worth checking out if you're into samurai films.

This was a pretty good manga.

My secret fortress at the base of the volcano!

Is that movie ten hours long? Because I saw scenes and characters from almost every volume of the manga. That is 25 years worth of material to cram into a 2 hour film.

That having been said; holy crap that looks awesome! I recognized every single character they put on the screen! The costuming is flawless! I want to see this, even if it sucks!

Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

It was freaking sweet, if there is a slight drawback to the movie it's that they have to compress so much material into a single movie so they can't use all the subplots and expanded character backstories but he fights pretty much everybody that's appeared in the series. While it's not quite as deep as the series it does a really great job at capturing the main story and overall feel, plus the action is every bit as ultra violent as the core material.

There's a small part of me that wishes that it had been a trilogy so they could expand on a few scenes but I think he did an incredible job with it being contained to a single film and it keeps the pacing at just the right speed and burn that I'm not sure a trilogy could capture in the same way so I'm quite content with it being a single film. I was a big fan of the manga series and have no major complaints on the movie, it was just really well done and even people who've never read the series will probably still enjoy it as a stand alone film.

Wow, I have to see this!

The manga is one of my all-time favourites, every panel is a piece of art. This adaptation seems spot-on with how the characters look, but I agree with squidhills that Blade is a lot of material to compress into one film. I have to check it out to see how well they've done it.

I saw a lot of these movies growing up in the 70's & 80's & they did it better without these cheesy effects. I really despise the HK wire-fu.
