Working on expanding my Craftworlds army, and I want to add some rangers. However, I've had some of the current ranger models before and it was not a good experience. Has anyone got any suggestions on what models or parts I could use as/convert into alternative rangers? I had considered using some glade guard with avenger shuriken catapults (The ones with scopes), but I'm struggling with sourcing enough catapults (I need 10) without having to buy entire boxes of dire avengers. Whatever suggestions you have, I do need them to be from GW, or close enough that I can pass them off as from GW as my local store doesn't like non-GW models/parts. Thanks in advance for any help.

I might just pick another unit entirely as well.. I think the new sisters of averlorn would look good if you changes the helmets and modeled some aftermarket sniper rifles. Honestly, I may just play them as archers. They crazy magic looking bows could have some space age lore to go with it!

That's actually not a bad idea. Mixing in some parts from the glade guard might not be a terrible plan, just to mix it up so they're not all female and so that some of them can have the hoods.

I was looking for information related to this myself and seen this thread on my google search where one individual mixed some guardian heads, shadow warrior bodies, and DE dark lances to make them.

Ooo, I like that. This has given me an idea; mixing the shadow warriors with guardian bits, then using the magic bows from the sisters of the watch(which come from the same set) instead of rifles. Thoughts on that idea?

I'm trying just putting little greenstuff cloaks and hoods on some guardians and trimming the sides off the guns. I used a stone texture plate to give the cloaks some detail that looks like bark to me. I think they will make good economy rangers. I'll post some pictures later.

Avoid Glade Guard at all costs. The models are still nice, but those cloaks don't sit flush with the model.

Get the Shadow Warrior/Sister of Avelorn box. You can do a mix of male and female models and then add in some goodies from the Dire Avengers or Guardians.

Thanks for the heads up on the glade guard. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it would be better to use modified dark lances or the magic bows from the sisters?

I used Eternal guard/Wildwood rangers to do mine. Some legs are attached to the cloak, so it required a lot a filing to get rid of them (I used DA legs), and the cloak got in the way of the legs many times (resulting in not-so-great poses).
Averlorn/Shadow warriors are indeed probably the best choice. Some arms are attached to the torsos, but it's not so bad.

I will probably use Kabalite warriors with shaven spikes, scopes for their splinter rifles (which IMHO work far better than the oversized Dark lances), sculpted cloacks/robes and hooded heads from Glade Guard/Wildwood Rangers.

The base models are cheap, relatively recent (which means nice proportions and detail) and readily available.

The arms are only attached to torsos on the Sisters. Shadow Warriors don't have them attached at all.

Eternal Guard/Wildwood Rangers are a bit too static I felt for the Eldar Rangers.
