Can a unit inside a drop pod move after Deepstriking. The rules say it disembarks 3", and that DS drop in at end of movement phase, but the way the rule for the units inside reads, at least based on our interpretation, that the units can disembark 3" then move its movement so long as its at least 9" from any models?

The Drop Pod comes in at the end of the movement phase. Therefore, you have finished moving all of your units. Since you can no longer move units at that point...

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

You know, if you could move after dropping, that on top of the idea of the drop pod protects against stratagems like forwarn (if it works that way not saying it does one way or the others) would suddenly make the high cost drop pods worth it. It would at least make the units more playable.

Yes, you can't move with them further in the same Movement phase and they count as having moved. [Drop Pod specific rules and Disembark movement]

Disembark rules state that the units "can then act normally (move, shoot, charge, fight)" after disembarking, so I could see this going either way.

No Pity! No Remorse! No fear!

If they came in during the Movement Phase, sure, move normally. However we're told they come in at the end of the Movement Phase, so just like 'deep striking' troops the occupants cannot move any further after their compulsory disembark. It's not at all ambiguous, I'm afraid.

That's true, but there is literally no time left to move the unit after they disembark. They can shoot and charge just fine.

Exactly!

The only way to achieve something close to it is to use Valkyries or Vendettas. They allow you to disembark after the transport moved, but during your movement phase, so you're free to move as usual. Bonus points for being Tallarn.

Yeah this is what i was saying. It was at the end. He tried to go with the "either way". I told him if thats the case my swarmlord dropping down in a tyrannocyte pod just got a BIB BUFF.

i think the drop pod would be worth taking by letting models that used it disembark 3" toward enemies making them 6" away.

That a drop pod let's you put ten models of many different possible types 9" away from enemy wherever you want is very valuable, that some people don't see that is there problem.

Everyone would like being able to drop 6" away with any unit from any codex in 8th. Not reasonable.

Hello melta drop and charges

They'd still be more than 6 inches away, since the pod had to be more than 9 inches away - so it changes nothing for meltas

It'd be wonderful for charges though... Odds of success go from 27 to about 60% without rerolls.
