Hi guys, a general question about how to make the herd stone for Beastmen in the new edition. One problem I have is that it says it has to be 3 inches across, which seems really small considering that your army has to pretty much be on top of it to benefit. Has anyone made one of their own or offer any advice / suggestions. Any help would be great. Mostly just because the written rules / guidelines on the terrain piece seem pretty unconventional.

Thanks,
Luke.

I think a cool idea would be making a primitive stone slab altar with some additional small standing stones around it so you could still fit some models from your units on top of it.
A slightly tilted slab, with maybe an axe resting next to it, some twisted branches with no leaves and cruel thorns, bloodstains, carven runes, skulls on the base...
It would work better as a monolith, but I think a sacrifical altar like that would definitely fit in the primitive/barbaric theme beastmen have.

If you can find one, a geode (especially one that's been cut open and polished) makes an interesting base for a herdstone.

I don't know where you get the 3" diameter from, but it's "up to 4"". With terrain rules having a 3" radius around the object, you have a buff bubble of 10" diameter. I would say that's pretty good if placed correctly.
