Who are the top beat stick characters in the imperium right now in the HQ slot? Most deadly? Most points efficient? Don't really care about buffing auras/support characteristics. Just raw killiness.

Bobby G and Saint Celestine both spring to mind. Yes, they've got auras and stuff, but in terms of killing power I think both of them are at the top. Belisarius Cawl is no slouch either.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Cawl has a heap of ways to deal with large units or smaller ones with his hive and axes, Celestine has her sword and the act of faith extra fights and gorilla man has some of the best melee weapons in the imperium.

Bjorn and Murderfang also dish out a lot of pain. Careful not to let anything with high strength and AP hit them back though as they both completely lack invul saves.

If talking about all characters of Imperium, currently it is Guilliman for sure. Outside of his awesome buff, he himself is well balanced among toughness, offensive output and
If you restricted to HQ characters from GW only, then I believe it would be either Bjorn or Grandmaster in Dreadknight. Although they both punches real hard, I am a little bit inclined to the later one since it can teleport in enemy faces and ability to have 3++ as well as having really good offensive power outside just combat. However, for Bjorn, if you give him several wolf dreads bodyguard with axe and shield, Bjorn can almost certain reach combat.

What do you guys think?

In terms of damage/point I think a Primaris captain with power fist, upgraded to the Crimson Fists Fist of Vengeance is pretty impressive. 106 points including the plasma pistol that he doesn't really want, but comes attached to the birthday captain whether you like it or not.

You get 5 near-guaranteed hits at S8, ap-3, 3 damage. He's a good target for might of heroes too, and possibly the warlord trait that gives +1 attack on the charge and rerolls of charges.

This guy isn't going to win anyone's prize for best beatstick ever, but I think you could do a lot worse for the price.

I'd go with a chaplain venerable dreadnought, 4 attacks (5 with warlord trait) of 14 -3 3 hitting on 2+ is v nice. Plus you are a t7 3+ (2+ w/ armor indomitus) 5++ 6+++ dreadnought with 9 wounds so you can still hide using character rule.

G man is a lord of war, so he doesn’t really count.

The saint is the best though. No one can get to where you need her to kill what you need dead, twice. She’s the best assassin in the game bar none (including gman and his two erstwhile brothers)

Better question would be best beat stick per points otherwise its always going to be like bobby or cawl.

Nowhere near the top of the list, but Mephiston is crazy good for his points.

Above average stat line for a Power Armored marine (5's across the board, wounds, strength, toughness) sporting a 2+ save and a 4++ invulnerable with his psychic powers, and the 5+ Lord of Death save vs. any and every wound he loses, including mortal wounds.

He has 4 attacks, again able to be boosted +1 thanks to a psychic power, a plasma pistol, and he rocks Strength 10 in Melee all the time at -3 AP. The only downside is his weapon does D3 wounds per hit instead of straight 3.

He can cast and deny 2 powers a turn, and also knows Smite plus 3 powers, so lots of utility for sure, especially with the new expanded powers list coming in the Blood Angels codex next month.

You get all of that for less than 150 points. He's a bargain in my opinion.

Just my thoughts on that. Take it easy.

Tied and gagged in the back of your car

Guilliman is a criminally undercosted and obscenely powerful beatstick that also happens to be in possession of the most potent combination of army buffs in the game.

Celestine is damn good, and incredibly annoying to deal with. Her acts of faith make her extremely mobile, allowing her to always put in work where work is needed. While she is a bit undercosted (not nearly to the extent of Guilliman, however), she's not without her flaws. While she'll eat through elite infantry like little else, once she runs into characters with decent invulnerable saves or high-toughness targets, her damage output really starts to fall apart. And if the enemy happens to be a beatstick in their own right, sh Additionally, while she has regenerating sisters and the ability to resurrect to help keep her alive, she's still only T3.

Now, in terms of raw kill power to point cost, you're going to have a hard time finding a killier character than the Eversor Assassin. For 70 points, he'll happily drop in and kill off whatever you point him at, and probably several other things on his way.

GMNDK is probably the most killy space marine HQ.

5 ws 2 str 10 AP-4 d6 damage hits (d6 damage min 4 damage but -1 to hit with the hammer) rerolling 1's - on top of the 18 multi damage shots and vortex of doom he drops on the way in. Hit's like a Mgaking truck.

GMNDK could shoot her to death and then charge and kill her again.

Put Coteaz in this list for efficiency with utility.

Most Space Marine Chapter Masters are good by themselves, especially Dante and Shrike.
