Hi everyone I am just starting this up to find out what's the best loadout out option against Death guard?

HQ - 142pts

Captain Terminator armour
Storm bolter - 2pts
Thunder Hammer

Tactical squad (10 man) 242pts
Bolters free
Plasma pistol on sergeant and powerfist
Inferno pistol
Melta gun
Heavy flamer
plasma gun
Storm bolter and chainsword

Death Company (164pts)
Thunderhammer
Bolt pistol and powerfist
inferno pistol
powersword
Plasma pistol and chainsword
Hand flamer and chainsword
(All have jump packs)

Support (117pts)
Razorback - Twin Lascannon and storm bolter (smoke launcher's)

Any suggestions cause I have a second tactical squad coming soon that I might add to this list but feedback helps. Also I have Commander Dante, 3 primaris Flesh tearer's and 3 dreadnoughts of different sort. If I need extra or change in my list then let me know as I need heavy weapons or whatever to beat a 700point list of Death Guard

Hey there dude,

Since no one else has stepped up to the plate I'll give this a shot, I'm Ultramarines so can't comment on specific units like your death company beyond experience fighting them, but can help generally.

first up; your tactical squad loadout is illegal. leading me to believe someone might not own the index/codex. for every 10 men you have a sgt who can take from the sgt equipment list, 1 marine per 10 man squad can take a special weapon Meltagun OR Plasmagun, and 1 marine per 10 man unit may take a heavy weapon such as your heavy flamer.

the miniatures you've built therefore are 3 sgts. 2 special weapons, a heavy weapon, and 4 bolter marines.

however; in a 5 man squad you can take a heavy OR special weapon for every 5 men. therefore assembling your next 10 marines as 1sgt, a heavy OR special weapon and 8 bolter marines will allow you to shuffle your marines into legal squads. please tell me you kept the sprues? youre going to want them.

honestly this list is kinda a mess. not your fault man but lets talk optimisation. first up; your terminator captain will put out hurt; but is approaching 25% of your list. scrap him for bigger games. you kniw that storm bolter dude with the chainsword? he just got promoted to captain for small point fights.

assuming you have the parts on sprue to build a combi-plasma; do so and keep it safe. when you build your next 10 men, this should be the sgt's weapon. pair him with your existing plasmagun marine, and give them 3 bolter marines. this unit is efficient and dishes out hurt. then using the contents of the second box; build the same unit a second time. these are your troops in low point games, and would be my first choice.

Razorback is solid. nice multi-damage firepower at this points bracket. moving up to 1000 you could do a WHOLE lot worse than a second one. if you expect to fight armies other than just the specified deathguard another razorback should be top of your Christmas list.

talk to me about these dreadnoughts?

Hey, just jumping in here too--as a BA player myself I understand why you would want to get up close and personal, but I am not sure that is the best way forward vs. the Death Guard.

I would, therefore, stay away from the (costly!) Inferno pistols and the Thunderhammers, and go with plasma instead. You can put combi-plasma on the Sergeants as well, and with a Space Marine Captain (I might also not take the Terminator armor there) you can reroll "1"s letting you overcharge and therefore hopefully kill Death Marines.

Dakka is the name of the game right now so assault cannons or even heavy bolters might be worth considering too--perhaps a Devastator squad?

That's my 2 cents. Let us know how it went.

5000 pts High Elves 4000 pts, Warriors of Chaos 4000 pts, Dwarfs 3000 pts, Wood Elves and Greenskins too

Going first is very important in small point games, i suggest you try to reduce your unit deployment count. Use a 5 model tactical squad, put them in the razorback, and add more death company. This will bring down your deployment count from 4 to 3. Now to your equipment. Flamers and inferno pistols are pathetic. Use plasma pistols/guns/combiplasma instead. Also deepstriking sucks, your chance of making the 9" charge is only 28%. If you really want to deepstrike make sure you have a good amount of guns, just in case you fail the charge, otherwise all your points invested in CC weapons are not being used, and models with them may die to enemy fire.

Heya thanks for tip and I understand but when I built my first Blood Angels tactical squad I had this whole idea of arming a lot of them with heavy stuff but that is what my kit allowed me to do is have a sergeant, 2 special weapons and a heavy flamer guy. However I had a game with my friends death guard today and exluded DC.

This is the loadout I went with:

HQ:

Captain in Terminator armour (same loadout)

Units:

10 man Tactical squad (242points)

My new tactical squad I split them up into two 5 man squads.

one 5 man squad was on one side of the battlefield and it is
Sergeant with a Bolter and combat knife
3 marines with bolter's
4th marine had a bolter and chainsword
5th marine had a combi-melta

second 5 man squad:
Sergeant has Grav pistol and powerfist
4 marines with Bolter's I think
5th marine with a grav gun

Support vehicle:
Razorback
Twin Lascannon's
storm bolter

Objective was capture all points.

My friend won and I lost again

To be honest with my second tactical squad I became more shooty now but however soon I do hope to invest in a devastator squad and fit it into a 700 point list and make Terminator's my second option but at the moment I have been told by another Blood Angels player that he recommend's me get a devastator squad because the only way I can beat Death Guard is heavy weapons and a lot of them. So devastator's are what I will invest in next.

I am becoming more shooty base for this list but heavy weaponry is the way to go against Death Guard apparently so yeah.

I don't know Blood Angels so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure your first tactical squad is still illegal. Only the sergeant can take a combi weapon and/or chainswords. So, you can have a sgt with bolter and chainsword, marine with a melta, and 3 bolter marines, but not the loadout you currently have.

I also agree with the other commenters that your captain is too much for such a small game. There are too many points tied up in him for a 700 pt game; use a regular marine/sgt as a captain instead, or maybe even just a lieutenant. I'd be aiming for 2 razorbacks, tactical squads inside with plasma and combi-plasma. A basic captain, 2 tac squads as I mentioned, 6 death company marines loaded out as you mentioned above, and 2 twin las and storm bolter razorbacks comes to 666 points. Personally, I'd drop some equipment from the death company (or maybe remove entirely) to squeeze in another HQ and tac squad to fill out a battalion detachment. You'll have a good amount of antitank/heavy infantry between the lascannons and plasma, and if you keep them in range of your captain (and ideally also a lieutenant) you'll be rerolling 1s for both hits and wounds.

Hey I foundout about a way cheaper HQ for Blood Angel's in my Index and it is Brother Corbulo, he is the cheapest point cost HQ in the Blood Angel's chapter and he is beneficial because he can regenerate wounds and bring back slain space marines.

So same DC loadout as I am using because if I get another DC squad that will make them 10 man squad cause of 5 extra marines with jump packs and melee. I mean personally i would try having more Death Company at some point because they were doing well againstm y friends Death Guard infantry when they deep struck behind him and attack his plague marines head on.

My real problem is his bigger group of pox walker's that still continue to get bigger that are being used as meat shields infront of his Lord of Contagion and my other serious problem is the Foetid Bloat drone because he charges his Bloat drone every turn and before I know it his Bloat drone is up in my face.

You need another razorback with a twin assault cannon. And you need to go first. Thats why i said its very important to start the game. You have the chance of taking out his drone before its gets to do anything. Reduce your deployment count.
