This army list is designed to inflict damage and control the battle zone through massed spore mines and infiltrated units, while maintaining high CP and a large firebase to deal with fodder.

The general idea is to drop sporocysts and mucolids across the battlefield for area denial and synapse. Biovores sit behind a rock somewhere, and together with the sporocysts begin flooding the field with spore mines. The devilgaunts and pyrovores come up with the Trygon to erase any bubble wrap keeping the genestealers from reaching important targets, Broodlord and Neurothropes support and smite, and the rest take objectives at their leisure.

What particular warlord traits, fleet, and relics to take I’m still uncertain on. Comments/criticism?

Just a little something to remember, if you are planning to deploy the Devilgants and Pyrovores with the Trygon you should run Jormungandr and use the Enemy Below Stratagem.

Something else you should think about as well, the units you deploy with the Trygon must be within 3" of it and outside of 9" of enemy units. From experience I can tell you that cramming 30 gants into that space can be a bit difficult, let alone the added Pyrovores. For the purposes you stated you should consider substituting the Trygon with Raveners, as you can spread out that 3" bubble to fit in as much as possible.

I haven't seen many people use the Sporocysts much, I hope that they work well!

Happy Wargaming!

Sporecysts seem like a big waste of points.

I'd rather just take actual units of sporemines.

for the price of 3 sporecysts you could put out 31 spore mines instantly. that's 4 separate units of 8 spore mines (-1).

The sporecysts cant even shoot their spore launchers most of the time since its 9" range and they have to deploy more than 9" away from enemies.

I’m using the Trygon because it came with the getting started box, but yeah raveners probably are a better option. Once I’ve got more of a collection to choose from I’ll probably go with that. Jormungandr is definitely looking like the best hive fleet to get everything where it needs to be. The cover save will also either always be in effect since hardly any assaults will occur or not be important, ie with genestealers.

As far as sporocysts, unless I’m fighting a static gunline killpoint game then the opponent will need to move around and take objectives. A big fat 12 wound model blocking movement or sitting on flags seems like a decent hindrance, and over the course of a game can generate their own points worth in mines and mucolids. So far the only real problem is assembling the awful things.

And remember they now get to spawn 3 or a mucilid within 6" and shoot the spore launcher at a unit within 9" if it misses it makes another spore mine every turn. That's 30 pts worth of spores plus it's shooting. I use mine aggressively putting them on objectives and forcing my opponent to choose ether to shoot it allowing the rest of my army free rein or ignore it and it becomes a pillbox of spore spawning death.

Looks like a fun list! You might want to double check, because I don't think Stealers can take Adrenals. But you could just change them into Toxic Glands, or spend the point elsewhere.

I've had no experiance with Sporocysts, so if you can I'd love to hear how they work out.

As for Fleets Kronos, or Jormondgandr are likely your best choices for a "gunline".
