Hey guys, I'm struggling to make a fun but competitive list. I don't want to make something spammy/tournament worthy, but something fluffy and fun that is at least competitive enough to win games. I also want to add the Blight-Hauler and a couple of drones somehow but I have no idea how to get the points to put all the goodies in.

This is my list at the moment:

HQ
- LoC w/ Manreaper
- Plaguecaster
ELITE
- 3x Deathshroud
- 5x Blightlords w/ flail and blight launcher, rest w/ combi-bolters
TROOPS
- 7x Plague Marines w/ plasma and fist on sergeant, great cleaver and 2x plasma guns
- 7x Plague Marines w/ plasma on sergeant, 2x blight launchers
- 20x Pox walkers
HEAVY SUPPORT
- Plagueburst Crawler w/ Entropy cannons and slugger
- Plagueburst Crawler w/ Entropy cannons and slugger
LoW
- Mortarion

So I know I have some options in there which will make people cringe, like the cleaver, but I've put it in there because I love the model. Deathshroud are in there because it feels a bit odd having Mortarion without his bodyguard, but they're REALLY pricey for what they do.

Things that I've been finding are Crawlers are too random, they don't seem to do anything for me, I just really like the look of them and people seem to think they're good so I've kept them in; even with the Deathshroud, Mortarion is dying before he really does anything; Plague Marines die weirdly quickly; the Blightlords are really good.

A couple of things I was considering was to ditch the Deathshroud (as much as it feels odd fluff wise) for a blight-hauler and maybe a character, ditch a unit of Plague marines for some cultists and drop the Crawlers for drones with mowers.

What do you guys suggest? Thanks in advance

deathshroud are completely useless the worst unit in whole codex, in my opinion to sucessfuly play Morty you need some aggressive list, more termies, DP and/or fast units pressing ur opponent , or Morty will face a quick demise. Good idea could be play couple of DP and/or bloated drones, use alpha legion support for infiltrating cultists and 6-7 blightlord termies full plasma in AiP.

Just figured I would copy past your list and give you notes on what I think in parenthesis.

LoC w/ Manreaper
(For another 38 points or so you can get Typhus. Imo the model is too cool to leave out and is in all ways superior to the LOC)
- Plaguecaster
(Solid caster, great support unit)
ELITE
- 3x Deathshroud

(Worst unit in the codex. Doesnt have enough bang for their buck and they cant keep up with mort once he starts flying around the place)
- 5x Blightlords w/ flail and blight launcher, rest w/ combi-bolters
(I feel like you need to go full alpha strike with these guys to make them worth their points. Reaper autocannon plus combi-plasmas, you really want these guys to come in, do a bunch of damage and then draw fire away from mort)
TROOPS
- 7x Plague Marines w/ plasma and fist on sergeant, great cleaver and 2x plasma guns
( Slow boys. Not enough bodies to fuel the pox walkers, Personally you ether need to go fully cheap melee in a rhino with some blightspawn, or go cheap footsloging in a 5 man with 3 plasmas)
- 7x Plague Marines w/ plasma on sergeant, 2x blight launchers
(See above)
- 20x Pox walkers
(Essentially must include, incredible units especially when backed by Typhus and/or a bunch of small squads of cultists, Id recommend going one or both routes.)
HEAVY SUPPORT
- Plagueburst Crawler w/ Entropy cannons and slugger

(Heavy support is interesting in this codex especially when you want to take mort, But who wouldn't want to right?,
I think you ether need to go full into threat overload with mort or go for the game of attrition with almost exclusively long range fire and big synergy blobs. I don't see much use for these guys in this list)
- Plagueburst Crawler w/ Entropy cannons and slugger
(See above)
LoW
- Mortarion

(Love him, great model awesome rules)

As I stated above, I think there are two ways to play death guard in this format at least if you want to stay competitive against the average guard list.
Ether go full into threat overload with Mortarion, Blightlord deepstriking, Bloat drones, Daemon princes with wings (Superb unit with the supperating place relic) .
Or go into full attrition mode with loads of PBCs and big synergy blobs with some of the cool individual characters that we have access to.

In ether rout I believe that the most effective base to build off of is 1 20 man squad of pox walkers and 2-4 minimum size squads of Cultists for screening and regenerating the pox mob.
Anyways! I hope that was helpful! Happy Corrupting, Grandpa Bless!
