The brutal Khornate ork warband the Berserkorks of Khork emerged from the Cadian sector near the Eye of Terror. Their progenitors, a band of ork pirates, had attacked a human moonbase which had fallen to Khorne after unearthing some ancient daemonic artifacts. The orks fell upon the cultists from space and slew them, taking all the loot for themselves. When they next jumped into the Warp however, the artifacts came alive with daemonic magicks and the orks were thrown into a frenzy of bloodlust (even more than usual). For weeks the corridors ran green with orkish blood, small factions battling it out in order to, for some reason they couldn’t quite explain, claim as many skulls as they could for the funny fings wot made their ‘eds ‘urt.

Orks don’t usually align themselves to Chaos, not truly, as despite their psychic presence their simple nature makes them unsuitable for true daemon worship in the way the more refined races can when they put their minds to it. But something different happened this time. A truly brilliant ork Nob realised that the artifacts were a gift from a third Ork God. If Mork is cunning but brutal, and Gork is brutal but cunning, then – and this was the stroke of brutal genius – these artifacts were surely a gift from a god that was brutal but BRUTAL. He named him Khork.

All the remaining orks thought it was a great idea, apart from the ones that didn’t, and whose skulls were soon collected. The artifacts then explained, in that ‘ed ‘urty way that they did, that the orks should basically keep doing what they had always done, raiding isolated worlds and moons, bringing back cargo-bay loads of skulls for Khork, and in return the orks would be shown how to construct better armour and weapons, and find themselves growing larger and stronger and more bloodthirsty, all the better to hunt skulls! The orks agreed that this was a great idea, and flew out of the Warp, red daemonic energies crackling around their ship, bellowing their dedication to claiming skulls for their new God, Khork.

I like it, especially the part where Khork is brutal yet BRUTAL. The conversions should be fun.

In my mind, I see topknots on top of topknots. It would be funny if they brought back the brainboyz wat fer their roomier skulls. Youz could fit a whole other skull inside one!

I have also been looking at Chaos Orks recently, even watched a vid on you tube about them, but a lot of that fluff seems to be fan fic (Khorne Red orks???), go for it, hope it looks cool.

but a lot of that fluff seems to be fan fic (Khorne Red orks???)

It's not fanfic at all, it was in the Rogue Trader Ork books which still remain a treasure trove of Ork background.

I'd love to see it if you can remember the link? I remember the old metal Khorne Ork model (think I might try to get one for this army), lots of spikes!

Yup absolutely. Khorne Orks were definitely a thing back in 1st edition days. You'd even get things like Stormtrooper Orks that were followers of Khorne (so essentially Orks in WW2 German uniform, with chaos symbols - if you can imagine that!)

There used to be two whole books of Orky Kulture back in the day, the whole thing was just so characterful and humours (and actually used to make Ork players in those days generally quite interesting characters). I suppose as the 40k universe has become more po-faced and serious over the years, the comedic side of things have fallen by the wayside, and a detailed Ork kulture, mk1 exploding legs and stories of ork towns and villages and their inhabitants have been replaced by green coloured mushrooms that spawn and then run screaming at the enemy until one of them is destroyed (kind of like Tyranids in some ways, actually).

Thats the thing, I still have those books and can find literally no reference to "Red Orks" and I will post the vid when I find it, you will see a lot of the "facts" are not facts anymore and have either been dropped from the fluff or retconned.

Just to be clear, Khorne Orks, yep, Red Orks, nope

Red skineed orks? No. Not in the fluff anyways. The race has programmed instincts about what is 'proppa orky' built in and krumpin da unorky gits is what causes irks to stop infighting and band together (until there's no more gits to krump).

I have seen fanfic about Khorne orks but can't recall it in the fluff. Memory is spotty at best when it comes to RT (do miss the Marines from that time rofl). I have seen some declare Tuska Daemonkilla as an ork of Khorne but I disagree. His purpose for entering the Eye was to have a fun time krumpin daemons not to worship them. Apparently they were good at it since it mentions multiple daemon world's falling before finally losing to Khornes forces. Sure Khorne keeps ressurecting that waaaaagh but I'm sure Tuska is still in it for krumpin daemons not worship.

However it is your army and your fluff and the galaxy is a big enough place for outliers to exist. Due to Tuska 's waaaaagh making it across multiple crone world's before getting stopped I am curious about the spores left behind in their wake. Those spores are notorious for surviving extreme conditions and still flower. The imagination can go wild concerning those spores and orks growing within the Immaterium. From Chaos gods noticing and cultivating them putting daemon souls in them etc. to them growing under their own devices separated from galaxy orks and yes perhaps even believing in/creating a third ork god.

I'm the OP, it's MY fluff ;-) - I will definitely paint my Orks green (proper Orky), as red wouldn't contrast enough with their planned red armour (proper Khorney).

Huh you're totally right in that I cannot find anything official about Khornate Orks having red skin , the only red coloured Orks I can find were due to a peculiar type of planetary dust.

I think there were red Khorne worshipping Orks in one of the RPG books. But I can't recall the specific one.
