I am looking to make a quick reference sheet for a game. I want to make the form have blank areas a player can fill in. Primarily to avoid any copy write infringment and so I can post it here to Dakka and allow users to fill in the form and print it out.

I figure a good PDF writer would be able to do this since you can make PDF forms with fields you can type into. Is anyone aware of a free software capable of making these kind of documents and place an image in the background so I can pretty it up?

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I make my simple PDFs using Microsoft Word, but you're obviously very limited in what you can do there if you want something fancy.

I would be interested in what people use for more attractive PDFs.

Yeah word works fine for a lot of stuff. But I can't add a specific typing field to it. The whole page would be one big typing field.
