I'm currently gathering bits to build myself an Alpharius for my 30k army (and I'm certain I'll bring him out from time to time in 40k Apocalypse games as well... ), and I'm wondering if anybody else has already built one?

I'm using bits from stormcasts, custodes and terminators, amongst others.

What do you use to make yours? Did you even bother to make one? Is there anybody out there who is playing Alpha Legion 30k?

I'll go ahead and already do some of the usual alpha legion jokes to get them out of the way:
-Anybody playing Alpha Legion ?
-Yes, everybody is playing alpha legion, even if they don't know it
-There is no such thing as the alpha legion
-I am Alpharius

-What to use for Alpharius?
-Use Omegon's model
-Any ultramarine will do
-I am Alpharius

I'll show you mine once I've made him, so, please, in the meantime, show me yours...

I'm collecting/repainting into Alpha Legion, including "Infiltrator" units like the good old days. I've thought about making an Alpharius conversion, I know it'll take some creative work to do well in my case. I was thinking of modifying a Primaris marine, it would lend itself to the idea with the added size compared to a regular marine.

I wasn't going to, but now that I've seen this idea I may have to see about covering a Primaris model with scales.

I fully expect someone to post a pic of an entire Alpha Legion army and just say "I am Alpharius". I personally haven't seen a good conversion or sculpt ever. YMMV.

If you own an Alpha Legion model...you own Alpharius.

A long time ago (2011)... A custom build, 3 peoples work - Myself, John Harrison for the armour macquette (I think), and Tom Moore.

I don't think we painted it, and I can't remember who it was for... I wasn't so organised back then.

Yes, that is a good idea, but in the HH book three, the armour of Alpharius is described thus: "... known to have led his Legion to war armoured in sinister and baroques reptilian-styled armour... This armour, faceless and fashioned after the shadowed mythic age of Ancient Terra...". Which for me brings up more of a medieval-looking armour than primaris power plate. Although, I am also fine with any interpretation of alpharius since he is, after all, alpharius...

Then I'll take that as a challenge and build the best damn Alpharius I can conceive, and hopefully get something better than a "meh" from you...

Impressive for an almost-completely scratch built model. I wouldn't know where to start on a project like that... But it does show that we've gone a long way in the last few years in terms of availability of usable bits for this kind of miniature...

It would be a shame if it was never painted, I would have really liked to see that...

We can remake him, we have the technology...
(well, mostly plastic and greenstuff, but hey, it's technology...)

So, somewhere in this pile of bits is my Primarch, or is there?

This little project really is getting me back into the feel and fluff of the Alpha Legion, and it's helping me shape what I want my 30k army to become: a headhunter force.

Ok, so here he is, in all his unadulterated plasticness:

The next step is the green Stuff, to fill the gaps, make a knee, and make a strap to hold the plasma blaster in place on his hip...

The beaky helm throws it off, I imagine him with a DE archon/incubi like helm. The handles on those weapons looks too long, no balance, perhaps shorten it by sniping off the handle above the hand, shorten it down to the hilt and pin it to the hands.

The beaky is my nod to the fact that alpha legion had access to Mk VI armor from the start, even (if rumors are true...) before the cool kids of the Raven Guard got them...

For the weapons I was going for the spear with two blades that he is described as having, but having the spear split in two parts, hence the long handle... but they are indeed very long...

Ic, you’re better off having one long spear then in its together form, no way you can splice it down the middle without snapping or damaging the parts, clearly the 2 current Spears don’t fit together.
