How do?

Figured this might turn into a useful resource for people about to take to the Underhive.

See, the stock terrain from various companies is all fine and well, but lacks that personal touch. I mean, our Gangs are out there claiming their turf - no way they're gonna leave it as the found it!

So I've been looking into some cheap and simply ways to do this.

The most obvious one so far has been this little blinder.

28mm, plastic corrugated iron. Got a pack at home. It's super thin, which of course means it's flexible. And for not a lot of money, you get a pretty reasonable amount.

Me? I'm gonna use these to make my Gang's very own 'home turf' - a lay out we can return to time and again as a locale. With these, I can add patched up walls, extra barricades, even removable graffiti boarding (this stuff is so light, the smallest dod of BluTak will hold it on).

Also, I'm pretty sure my pack came with more than 5 sheets! For sake of scale description? Each individual panel is big enough to hide an Escher mini behind.

Right, anyone else?
Whilst nowhere near sturdy enough to build a structure out of, it's pretty much spot on for embellishing any terrain, whether MDF, Sector Mechanicus or even home made stuff.

Just struck me as an incredibly useful bit of kit.

That they’re comparatively cheap is just a bonus!

I am planning on getting some of TTcombats resin scatter terrain. Broken sofas and fridges, dirty mattresses and various litter and rubbish piles, all could be scattered about to provide a more lived in feel for a gang hideout. It all looks "real world" so would need a bit of grimdarking though.

Got a link to that stuff?

Founds them!

Those are really quite nice.

I'm a big fan of the resin embellishments for MDF terrain - adds a crucial level of detail I find often lacking in in MDF (YMMV!).

Reckon I'll get some of those Back Alley bits too, so when my Gang's Home Turf is set up, it properly looks the part.

For shops/stalls, I did see a very cool conversion made from Munitorum Containers.

Can’t seem to find it at the moment, but it looked fairly straight forward.

Will do some more Google.

I dunno. I reckon a dremel would prove mighty handy there?

If you dont feel like making ladders and walkways from ice cream sticks then I highly reccommend picking up some LoTR ladders.

They can be found quite cheaply on the 2nd hand market for $1-$2 each.

You can either glue them to the terrain as a fixed ladder or more easily they can be placed during terrain placement to add more options to terrain.

Can anyone recommend (ideally) a kit or (in a pinch) a building guide, for Fallout style wooden palisade and fences?

I really want to have a 'lived in' look for some of my boards. Show areas of the Underhive that've been settled, at least temporarily.

Not sure about "Fallout-style", but there's some useful bits like that in the Ainsty range, I think.

Thank you for the corrugated iron link; I never did quite get good-looking results with hobby crimpers.

Oh, they have very nice ladders there that should go well with Sector Mechanicus scenery. Great

The parts themselves are thin, but far from brittle - even in an unheated English living room in early December!

Good amount of flex to them, so should be able to take chunks out without risk of shattering the main piece. Which is nice for the proper ‘well, we found this, and it’s either that or rat droppings’ grungy.

Can someone explain how the "home turf" works? Is it playable terrain, is it just a part of campaign play or more of a hobby prject?

I love the idea of the merchant stall Mad Doc.

Bit of both.

I’ve never really had the resources to do it before, but I’ve always wanted to have a recognisable terrain config as my ‘home base’.

Purely stylistic rather than rules based, but can make Rescue missions especially memorial if they have to come a-knockin’!

There might also be some useful bits here:

Not "grungy" enough, perhaps, but thepiles of crates and barrels might be useful, and the "alien hive"-style bits could be good for your 'stealer cult's home base.

TTCombat has some rather nice back alley sets that would fit nicely for home bas type scenes

Yes when I first bought the sets, I was surprised all of them were a combination of only 7 sprues.

I started out making one according to the drawing, the rest I just made up new designs. Very few of these sets are designed to go multiple levels, so I suggest combining them to make multi-level structures.

The parts in these sprues are also extremely modular, so it is difficult to go wrong when making something up. This has been shown in a GW youtube video for building Sector Mechanicus terrain. You can pretty much do whatever with them, things will almost always fit in place.

Looks more pricey than the ones from America, but probably cheaper if you include postage.

I'll need to count up how many of each bit I'll need, though.
