Hey Dakka,

This is my current draft for a Chapter Approved-compliant TAC AM list at 2000 pts (at least until Sly Marbo makes his appearance...).

For now, though, I like what this list gives me. I'm hoping the hellhounds will be the first to hit enemy lines, throwing out some fire (flyers as priority targets) and take some tough units with them via the mortal wounds on explosions. 9 Lascannons, 2 Manticores, 3 Mortar teams, 6 plasma guns, 6 plasma pistols, a Pask Punisher, 2 battle cannons, and a handful of flamers should provide nice coverage.

Immune to the Reaper secondary with 9 model units max, which is nice.

Not sure who I'll make warlord and put Grand Strategist on, probably the Psyker that I plan on running near Pask and his tanks as he should be pretty tough to target near them.

I'm considering shuffling some things around to throw in:
1. Some scions with plasma(RIP melta increase for BS3+).
2. Also like the idea of a Punisher Vulture.
3. Maybe diversify my psychic powers in there for Gaze/Maelstrom?
4. Another company commander for full orders coverage?
5. Battle cannons->Executioners? All of the -1 to hit abilities/auras out there give me pause on this but they're going to try to stick near Pask so the orders/Relic of cadia should help. Plus, the range advantage of BC's likely won't matter as much.

Thanks for reading! Thoughts?

The Primaris psyker is not Cadian so cannot be given that relic. Right now Pask is the only valid model for that.

If you drop the plasma pistols you can get an astropath with Psychic Maelstrom, might be a worthwhile tradeoff to test. Similarly if you drop the vox-casters you can just get another officer.

If you drop both and a Hellhound you could pick up a few scout sentinels to push deep strike even further back on turn 1. Alternatively you could upgrade the Catachan mortars to a Basilisk or maybe 3rd Manticore with a few points from elsewhere.

I would have a good plan for how you are going to differentiate the mortar teams between regiments.

good catch on the psyker, should have mentioned that. Battlescribe doesn't let you put relics on pask so I stuck it there to remind myself.

I'll try a small points game without vox casters, but I would imagine I'd miss them. tough to keep the commander within 3 inches of 2 units as the game progresses and they go after objectives, although maybe I should anyway for the +1 ld within 6" of Catachan OFFICER units

I have a bag of magnets, was going to denote the regiment by sticking a piece of scenery/extra helmet/something on the cadian one. Pretty casual player, so I can't (won't?) be buying multiples of units just to have separate regimental paint schemes. I can't imagine anyone in the FLGS having a problem with that.

Will mess around with the hellhound. Will take a look at the plasma pistols too; I forgot that despite being able to fire them in CC, it's still used in the shooting phase and cannot be used to hit back in the opponent's fight phase... will have to see what the swap will allow me to field instead

thanks!

I was assuming the officer with Laurels would be close to some gunline squads using Combined Squads (so that Laurels 30 guys T1, 40 T2) to maximize orders efficiency from the Laurels. Although if you end up doing that a lot you might want to consider switching things around so that the battalion is Cadian to get the most out of the aim order + 50% chance of a second one with the Manticores, Hellhounds and maybe Russes in the spearhead.
