Your Wight King can only have a shield OR the Infernal Standart.

I would also split the Grave Guard into 2 units for more objectives and give them greatweapons. Undead shields are pretty bad, a lot of stuff has Rend -1 and makes them useless.

Force of habit on the Wight king shield....

Cheers for the help, you say split the grave guard up but into what? 3x10?, 1x10 and 1x20?

I figure a smaller unit will just be destroyed before they get anywhere, what luck have you had with them?

I wouldn't split up the grave guard, I'd split up the black knights. Black knights aren't that good, but their one bright spot is the banner returning d3 knights. Accordingly you want to have as many of those banners as possible, which means a bunch of smaller units. The skeletons and grave guard are going to get the buffs anyways, so you might as well.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

So my main critique is going to be actually playing Deathrattle, the only possible reason I can think anyone would want to play Deathrattle is for the Legion of Death buffs, which still don't make it worth it. Unfortunately playing Grand Alliance: Death is just straight up better at the moment.

Grave guard aren't great at the moment, arguably skeletons are the more points efficient options. However if you are adamant on running Grave guard, they work better in large units as you have them listed, not as smaller units as other have suggested, if you were ever going to take a unit of Grave guard as less than 25 than it's always better to take skeletons instead.

Black Knights are in a similar situation to Grave guard, except the Black Knights are straight up trash right now - everything they can do, other units can do better / for less points. I assume you have so many left over from running BKBs from WHFB, unfortunately they're just a point sinks in AoS - they'll do their job as a mobile tarpit in 5 model units, but there's better options. If you have the models / money I'd recommend choosing something else.

It looks like you're going for an all skeleton theme, if you really don't like anything that isn't skeletal I recommend playing GA: Death and adding in more morghasts, and some of the TK models - Chariots and Necro Knights are both great and can be easily converted up, ushabti are also great but if you don't have the models, their conversions take slightly more hobby skill. They have some worthwhile heroes too. If you're not going for the all skeleton theme then there's a whole bunch of other suggestions and you'll have to give some feedback on what units/themes you enjoy to receive any more suggestions.

You have the right idea running 2 WKs, you want the WK without the banner as your general to potentially extend the lifespan of the banner on the table.

With that in mind, I would re-structure your list to something a bit more bare bones (lol) so that you can build it out as GA: Death.

Wight King with IS

Necromancer

40 Skeletons w/ Spears

40 Skeletons w/ Spears

10 Skeletons w/ Spears or Swords

2 Morghast Harbingers

This gives you 1010 points to pack out your list with some punching power / magic. If you aren't bothered about the skeletal theme I would probably swap out the 10 skeleton unit for DWs too.

Many thanks.

I dont have any of the models yet, it was 90% just to look cool as an army (i love the deathrattle models ^_^ )

I do try to stick to a theme... the fkesh tearers are one of the few battletomes i dont have so dont know what they are like... also interested in nighthaunt (cant decide between 1 or 2 mornguls for that list) for the models as well ^_^

I am also incredibky lazy when it comes to painting. Characters i dont mind spending hours on but i like how simple a deathrattle army would be to paint quickly... if you can suggest improvements that fit that itd be awesome, havent looked at the tomb kings much though do have their pdf to hand so might give them a proper look

Skeletons and spirits go together quite well in a GA: Death force, Nefereta is also a decent general for a mixed skeleton/nighthaunt army and Arkhan is worth looking at too. Pure nighthaunt isn't so strong in larger games like 2k so it's almost good to go for mixed.

Mournguls and spirit hosts are the top peformers but the rest are usable, tomb banshees can be really fun, though they aren't super competitive.

You could easily fit a mourngul and some spirit hosts in with the points you have.

For example you could go with:

Wight King

Necromancer

40 Skeletons

40 Skeletons

10 Skeletons

6 Spirit Hosts

6 Spirit Hosts

2 Morghast Harbingers

Mourngul
