I was looking at the new DA codex art which went on preorder today o the GW site and it comes with this peice of art:



Front and center fighting the DA are what appears to be new Khorne CSM, especially looking at the pauldron of the 2 handed ax guy. Seeing as every other model depicted has a plastic mini behind it and these guys look new, are we seeing a preview for the next Chaos legion?

The foot goons look like they might just be artist interpretation of current models, but what has my eye is the flyer in the background above the heldrake. A New non FW Chaos flyer would be interesting. On second thought, it just looks like another heldrake.

I would like new zerkers. But I think a non FW flyer or even a port over from FW to GW would be awesome.

Very likely just an artistic depiction, however those CSM helms are quite interesting; almost like stylized primaris helms.

Looks to me like these guys are World Eaters based on the maw on the shoulder.

Chainaxes - check

World Eater iconography - nope

Khornate iconography - nope

Bunny Ears helms - nope

I think those Sir are just an artists interpretation of CSM, as others mentioned. They ain't berzerkers in the traditional World Eater sense, not that all berzerkers are though.

Knowing the beef they have with the DAs my bet is those matey are in fact Crimson Slaughter CSM.

Don't be so sure that it's just an artists rendering.

The artwork for a lot of the DG are carbon copies of the Dark Imperium Plague Marines so it's not impossible to say that this is a sneak peak at future models.

in reality though, no one can say for sure.

I think they are the first look at Bile's new Primaris experiments.

Yeah, there are some much nicer, redesigned guardsmen in the art for the Harlequin and Genestealer Cultist books as well - basically some of the older figures that look like garbage need to be updated in the art to actually fit in the universe. In the case of the guardsmen they need to be redesigned to look like they didn't just yell "we aint found gak" at mel brooks.

I'm not convinced they are new marines, but thanks for posting. This is exactly the kind of speculation I do like. It's much better than the usual "I had a dream about a primarch and want someone to tell me it is real" rubbish...

I think we can see that very little of the art is up to interpretation. The new beast of nurgle matches the art very well and the same has held true for many other releases.

Just looks like the DA fighting the Crimson Slaughter since they've become mortal enemies after 7th ed. Same armour as the CS, same armour colour and a few CSM are duel wielding CC weapons just like many CS do.

I'm going to have to disagree - they are very different from those models. I wouldn't mind that style either, but in either case GW's art has been following models very closely as of late.

They look very similar to other art done of the crimson slaughter.

All I want in life are khorne models that aren't as old as me.

The Khorne and Base Chaos Space Marine models are definitely showing their age and look rather flat in detail compared to something like the Dark Vengeance Chosen. I would love to see more generic marines in that style. AOS has some fantastic looking Khorne models I would love to see the style of them adapted to Bezerkers.
