Im not sure this is meant ot be in this section of Dakka Dakka, but I am currently trying to get a community combat patrol group together in order to update (unofficially) the combat patrol rules for the current edition of 40k. Why? you maybe asking well there is a current belief that the current rule set for 40k in 40mins does not fit 8thED Warhammer 40k. Plus many tournaments and people have created their own ‘House rules’. That means play understanding between individuals (especially beginners) is inconsistent and often the tournaments design their games to be highly competitive smaller versions of the larger games that goes beyond the original scope and perspective of combat patrol as a learning tool for beginners.

Our Aims are:
1: to develop a competitive, comprehensive yet, balanced and easy to understand set of rules that adheres to the needs of not only advanced players but beginner also. This will be done by developing and play testing a downloadable PDF rule book to be used alongside and complement existing 8th ED Warhammer 4000 and beyond
2. To take combat patrol back to it's routes but understanding that combat patrol will need modernising for the modern player.
3. To standardised the rule and army options so that players have consistent interpretation of the combat patrol that is simple to understand, play and irons out the oddities that appeared in previous editions but now plagues the current combat patrol 8thED of Warhammer 40000 .
3. Adhering to the spirit of the game.

if interested then like the group and post here your intention to join. We really need play testers at the moment, but everyoneis welcome.

I've already started a Combat Patrol revamp, it's here on the Proposed Rules forum.

Is there a chance you could summarise the work on your CP recreation for those here who can't access Facebook?

Honestly, CP should be a mian game GW pushes. A lot of people, me included, dislike the huge 40k armies and would prefer a standard way to play with small 500pts forces. If there was a genuinely fun game built that altered data sheets to make the game more balanced then I would probably give up 40k outside of my main ork army and just build lots of small CP armies.

My main problem is that even if gw did bring out an entire rule boòk for 8th ed CP, I don't know many people whomwouod play it...

certainly smudge, we are a community project, you are more than willing to come and join us and lend us you long expertise of combat patrol.
we plan to summarise, play test, iron out oddities (specific faction oddities in the form of Army sheets specifically for CP).

everything we do will be scrutinized by the community, in order to make it relevant to the most amount of players as possible.
