Hello everyone,
I'm finally taking the plunge into AoS after a long hiatus from GW games. I played WHF for a very long time and find myself not at all enjoying or appreciating what they did to my Lizardmen. That being said I'm working on swapping out my "Seraphon" for a chaos army. I'm mostly considering slaves to darkness or the khorne mortals,Bloodbound? Either way I was hoping for everyones input, advice, suggestions etc since I'm coming in to this basically brand new. Thanks in advance btw!

Initially I would have recommended the blightwar set and said to practive with that nurgle force, but since you are more interested in khorne or SoDs then I would say grab a starter and go with that khorne force at first,. its pretty easy to get used to and has some good units. It also has some good hardcopy stuff and you can always sell or trade off the SCE for more chaos. the khorgorath is pretty good and of course blood warriors and bloodreavers
.

If you are wanting to play in tournaments, you['ll want the tzeentch arcanite force.

Khorne is ok.
Nurgle right now is pretty bad.
Slaanesh is ... don't know really how to describe it. We'll just say not doing that well.

Slaves to Darkness is meh middle of the road.

Now if you are playing whatever you feel looks cool and aren't worried about their tournament power, slaves is a pretty good force IMO. Just don't expect them to do well against the tournament daddies.

Thats really the big battle with AoS, you can really love the look of something and it be crap :( I am ambivalent towards tzeentch (I really like nurgle) but I figured with the korgorath (cant spell it for crapall) the khorne half of the starter is a cheep fairly effective force? the arcanites can be cool (just getting a good color scheme planned out is blaargh)

Well I'm certainly not a tournament player by any stretch of land but I definitely wont enjoy a game where i'm constantly getting my teeth kicked in. That being said what are some of the better models/units you'd recommend or are there any you'd steer away from?

IF you are set on khorne than blood warriors and the khorgorath. are good IMO, the bloodreavers are good meat shields. if you already play shadespire then adding those guys to the mix couldnt hurt. I have been successful with starter set models so I tend to like them. are you planning to add daemons to your force?

I'm not 100% set on khorne but I definitely want to focus on mortals mainly, I'm not against supplementing my forces with daemons but Im definitely not interested in a full daemon list/army. I think the bloodbound, slaves to darkness and tzeentch mortals (tauric)? have my attention the most. Nurgle and skaven don't interest me and slaneesh is too limited currently.
