Hi Guys!

Below is a link to my blog with a set of rules I've been using on my own games to enhance the competitive level of narrative play while also raising the narrative level of competitive play.

https://wargamingrebel.blogspot.com.br/2017/12/40k-house-rules-making-narrative-more.html

I would like to hear from you guys what do you think?

I've found that the narrative missions are way more fun with more abundant CPs so both players can use the stratagems in the missions. I've also found that a small nerf to Smite and some more freedom with LoS and Cover rules adds a lot more depth to the way the environment takes part in the battles.

I don't think these rules have a place on tournament play as they are still open for interpretation, but for casual-competitive games they have added back much of the depth for narrative play that I was missing.

What do you guys think?

A smart move.

But it loses all the nice formatting

Fair enough.

You wont belive how much better it is to read it, what I've done to the rules will blow your mind!

These barely include any changes. Most of those are actual rules in 8th edition right now.

Thanks for taking a look at it. If you were expecting a large overhaul, that was not my intention. I just want to have a repository of my house rules so that can be used by my group. Most of these are, in some way, in the books, but they are either not meant for matched play or are specific to a scenario /mission, like the rules from cities of death that I've been using on regular games.

If you want to discuss the more novelty ideas, what do you think of the proposed initiative rule of bidding for command points?

Also what do you think about the proposed solution for smite spam as well as the opening of the possibility of repeating spells cast, albeit as a liability?

Eh. Not a fan. Too easy to make a Beta Strike army, go second, and annihilate your opponent without having left anything vulnerable turn one while rolling in bonus command points.

And it's still a band-aid fix to a deeper problem.

While I consider that true I like the fact it creates mind games before the game. If you think the opponent will beta strike you you simply bid high and try to beta strike him instead. That can result in both players getting to "wait out" for that beta while sitting on a heap of CPs. But then you bid 5, get as much CP and still get to fire first, from your beta strike position (just do a theta strike lol).

But there's the risk of you rolling low on a tied result and getting screwed, so there is a lot of mind game potential which is fun IMHO.

Any opinions on the Psychic ruling?
