Judgement brings all the elements of the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena video game genre to the table top. Powerful, diverse and fun heroes, neutral monsters, magical items and hero levels. These ingredients provide a truly amazing gaming experience like no other miniature game on the market. The game design team worked tirelessly for almost 2 years creating, testing and perfecting the core mechanics which ensure diverse, dynamic hero activations and a fast, flexible combat system. The icing on the cake are superbly detailed 54mm scale resin cast miniatures.

I got to play it at MuseOnCon this year and its quite interesting. I find the marketing for it generally misleading though, as I didn't find the character activations or the combat system particular unique or compelling. What IS interesting is the game's win condition, which feels kind of like a blend of Guild Ball's multiple VP options with a dash of Warmachine's Hail Mary assassination run. I found it a much more engaging hook than the actual combat.

I do kind of feel like the game is going to struggle to find an audience. The minis are wonderful but really really pricey. They really need to be seen in person to appreciate the scale bump, but right now that's not an option. As it currently stands the game slaps you with a pretty hard sticker shock however you look to start it. It does play quite well out of a single player's collection, but that's not going to make for much of a community unfortunately.

So all in all? I find it to be a game that I'm hoping takes off. A second wave of Champions could really give it the diversity it needs for the 5v5 game to really work. That said, I'm about as bad as they come when new shinies are out there, I've held the models in hand and seen the value in them, I've played the game and seen the potential, and even then the buy button feels just a little too hot for me. :(
