Hey all,

I'm thinking about building an Astra Militarum list that's primarily mechanized and armored with Grey Knights as a screening unit for the tanks (like Interceptors, Terminators, etc.). I also hope to leverage the use of the psychic abilities of the Grey Knights. Does this sound like a good plan?

Grey Knights are an awfully expensive screen. What other bubble wrap elements were you considering? Vehicles with scout moves, Ratlings, Infantry squads and conscripts all have their place.

I might be tempted to go all DS with the GKs, just to keep them out of harms way on the first turn and use them to DS in a hose down infantry to buy your armour time to blow stuff up. Or, alternatively, you could use cheap squads of GKs as distraction units to try and take some of the focus off your armour, although that isn't really going to work out that well. Failing that, I'd run 'em on the wings and fill the middle with conscripts or something similar.

Well, I think Primaris will make a better screen.
But with AM, there are other ways to screen tanks as already said by Fenris.

You should screen the GK with the tanks.

Well I've already got a build that uses AM conscripts to screen the tanks. Mainly I'm just making a new AM-GK list for fun. I could try to deepstrike all the GK and make a mess of the other guy's backfield while my AM move up and advance.

The idea I had was to use the Ambush stratagem with deep striking GK to wreak havoc.

I'm open to anything tbh. Love to hear more suggestions!
