Question is simple.
The mrs. is getting me an Airbrush for the holidays but asked me what kind to buy. Like any true man I fudged it and say sure honey I know what kind to buy.
So, in everyone here's professional opinion what kind of Airbrush should I get?

I can range up to about 200 dollars but after that is pushing it.
I mostly paint mechanicus stuff and large models.
I do a lot of dark colors and metallics.

Thank you all for the help!

Badger Patriot 105 is a great, versatile option. Parts are easy to get on amazon, support is good and it’s made in the US.

A 105-1 kit (basically just the brush) will set you back under 80 on amazon. You might be able to find a two-for kit with the 105 and either a renegade krome or sotar 20/20 for under 200.

The latter two are very fine detail brushes but will struggle with thicker paints (like Stylenrez primer for example)

Hold on here: Airbrush, or Airbrush + Compressor?

Whatever it is, make sure it's gravity feed and double action.

To many unpainted models to count.

For detail work and small spots - absolutely. If you will be doing larger areas, vehicles, base coats, etc. then a cheap single action siphon will do the job and you can pick one up at any discount tool/freight store for about $15. it makes no sense to buy an expensive single action as a coverage work horse.

My Novella Collection is available on Amazon - Action/Fantasy/Sci-Fi - https://www.amazon.com/Three-Roads-Dreamt-Michael-Leonard/dp/1505716993/

I'd rather a cheap $15 gravity than a $15 siphon
