It's definitely...interesting.

My only concern is that, like all snow-based stuff, it looks exceptionally out of place on 95% of the tables you'll play on. Also, sadly this kind of snow effect will turn yellow over time and you'll have pee-snow Adeptus in 10 years time.

Neat from an artistic standpoint and I think it would look really cool for a diorama...but as an army, it's a bit much I think.

This is, no kidding, one of the coolest armies i have seen in a long time!

Out of place? just about any army with themed bases will look out of place sooner or later.

Absolutely incredibly executed. A little too much snow for my taste but it really looks cold and disheartening exactly what those robbit bois like

Very nice themed army.
I now imagine Cawl waging war against a blizzard generating doomsday machine as some point.

In his defence, almost all armies look out of place on all table unless they are boring plain bases. Nice looking models being slightly out of place always wins in my books lol.

Also, not all snow techniques yellow over time. Especially if he used any white paint in his snow recipe, it could outlast all of us!

To the OP, this army is looking phenomenal. How did you do your snow?

I like the painting but the snow looks a bit overdone. I'm thinking you went for the blizzard look, but it looks too much on the actual models compared to the bases, they would have had to be standing there a while for it to build up that much.

Cheers for all the comments guys have been flat out with work and pre Xmas parties so haven't had a chance to reply to everyone...

Currently working on the following (which are built/undercoated but just got to get the time/motivation to keep going haha)

6x Dragoons
4x Kastelans
10x Infiltrators
Have also converted some Kairic Acolytes into Fulgurite electro priests so will have 20 of each priest when done

In regards to the look, was going to say they spent the night in the blizzard dug in (Hence the terrain on the bases to give that defensive look) so there is a little more snow on the model but more so on the roof of vehicles, shoulders of Robots etc.
Want that grimey slush look and you only have to spend a small amount of time in snow to get flakes building up on you IRL.
We were in the alps in Jan last year which got me thinking the next army was snow based and growing up next to a mountain in NZ I have always enjoyed the snow.

You probably don't see the missing snow over the onager vents for example to show where the heat melted it,or other things I have tried to make realistic and not just dump the snow on
I feel with snow that it usually builds up on top, then melts off the face of things just leaving a slightly wet icy look which is why the onagers are quite clean. Just have to imagine it falling and go from there.
The troops are a by product of experimenting a bit, but didn't just want a 'Clean' army walking on snow. Point taken though I could lighten up a little on them.
Just wanted these guys to look different from the 'Dusty red Mars look' and combined with being able to smash out these quite quickly means I hope to finish this soon (when motivated though the above took a couple weeks of painting a few hours a night)

Classic real life examples for inspiration were the Finnish in World war 2 fighting against the russians, and also the russian vs german winter.
Though Skitarii don't feel the cold so can stay out there forever haha.
Battle of Hoth too, the dragoons I am looking forward to and have a ATST feel to them so they are built to walk on ice

I use a combination of AK Micro Ballons,Snow,Crushed glass and realistic water, White paint and a tiny little bit of blue.
Though to be fair the Valhallan Blizzard from GW is very similar so unsure of the recipe they use but handy for doing small batches.
Just the $$ to just use that could work out expensive if uses liberally, but gives a nice look for out of the pot.
No baking soda so they won't 'Piss' themselves haha

Yes Cawl is inspired by Santa

Look I am not a great painter but think the above came out alright considering this is probably my third warhammer army in total with this being my first 40k one. Just trying something different so who knows what it will look like once finished but have a lot to go still.

Anyways cheers for all the messages, will try and get some more painted and keep you updated

Cheers guys
Managed to pick up some more ammo crates and barrels today so should be able to get some more units built and painted.
This week off has been great and with my new painting light (Benq LED) making a huge difference.
Today’s painting has resulted in x10 Infiltrators 99% done so will get these finished and up tomorrow.
Have x4 more Kastelans built as well so will be next on the painting table tomorrow

Anyways cheers for the feedback and appreciate the comments which keep me motivated to grow this army

Well have been back at work a couple weeks now so haven't had a chance to get a lot of painting done.
Though on Sunday I painted these Kastelan's up so enjoy the update.

Have finally got through all my assembled/painted units now so will have to decide what to do next.
Thinking some Rangers with more arquebus, though have been working on some converted Fulgurite priests (From Kairic Acoloytes).

Rangers will give me some core troops which I am lacking and will be needed so I can start playing some games.

Purchased 5 'Start Collecting' and 2 of the Battleforce boxes when I started a few months ago, so there are some extras I am unsure what to do with (Mainly Destroyers).
Also have 20 of each Priest to build/paint too so will be busy in 2018

Kastelan's don't feel the cold

Fulgurite Electro Priests x20 (Otherwise known as the Admech Ice Hockey Team)

Converted from a combination of Vanguard heads, Kairic Acoloyte Bodies and Fulgurite forearms.
From 4 boxes of Priests and 1 box of acoloytes I get 20 of each so works out alright.

Thanks, just wanted something a little different and more 'realistic' looking.
With a love for a good old snow themed army decided to combine them both
