Hello Everyone,

New to the forum so would like to say a big HI! And apologies in advance if this isn't the correct place to post with regards to my question/Similarity Thread.

Basically I've been a massive fan of WH for the longest time. Love everything about Space Marines WH30k/40k Setting. But Back in June these big lads (Sometimes referred to as the "sigmarines" Started to make me look closer at the Fantasy side of Warhammer. Basically I am trying to quench my unusual OCD tendencies by drawing up a comparison list. (I am aware that a vast majority of Stormcasts are missing in depth levels of fluff, but contributions made by yourselves would help me fill in the gaps)

So I am at present trying to liken Stormhosts to Legion astartes in forms of warfare/cultural and mindset tendencies. I am using all 18 legions from the 30/40k setting pre heresy as well as successor chapters to try and liken/draw up the potential similarities I find (Just because it helps me to sleep better at night!)

I've foolishly been using 14dchan as they have given me a rough (well VERY rough) idea of possible similarities between existing forces that help a little to paint a picture. Unfortunately I've also had to fall back on stereotyping to some degree.

So at the moment I have,

Hammers of Sigmar - Ultramarines
Hallowed Knights - Word Bearers (If basically The Emperor had allowed Lorgar to worship him as a god and stick it to chaos)
Tempest Lords - Emperors Children (None chaosy)
Anvils of the Heldenhammer- Iorn Hands
Astral Templars - Space Wolves
Knights Excelsior - World Eaters/Warhounds
Knights of the Aurora - White Scars
Maelstrom of Light - Blood Angels (Pure warriors of noble intent, yet no identifiable flaw, best I could come up with >.<
Ghyran Guard - Death Guard (Literally just for the reason they despise Nurgle, I feel if the 40k DG ever got rid of the stink they would be exactly the same and have a vendetta against him)

Pretty much as far as I have gotten, so unless anyone else can submit more fluff I am unaware of regarding other Stormhosts and their tendencies/ similarities I would be very grateful.

Thank you all, and hello again!

Eh... The first two comparisons are about right but after that the stormhosts aren't analogous to any specific legions.

Gathering the Informations.

Hammers of Sigmar are more Dark Angels than Ultramarines.

They're the first founded and extremely proud of it.
Otherwise as mentioned, there really isn't anything to make them analogous beyond maybe color schemes or something.

Hammers of Sigmar are also drawn out mainly from freedom fighters who opposed chaos. Discipline actually isn't their forte.

Some of these similarities are stretching it, to be honest.

Hammers are Ultramarines because they are poster boys who are great at everything.

Posterboys yeah but great at everything is kinda off. Unless you mean crunch-wise.

Also Hallowed Knights are more like Grey knights with their pious monk behavior and strength against magic.

Welcome to the forum, by the way, _score.

I am very aware. I know that there is little in terms of fluff analogy to draw comparisons. This is very much my own personal view. Mainly due to the Fact I'd like to give the SCE some more flavor and depth. At least until more fluff is generated on them.

That was my first thought to. But I am trying to (for my own petty reasons) represent the Traitor legions (pre heresy) themes in this Environment. A tall order beyond rational thought I know. Mainly as I am writing an Alterate Heresy piece myself on the Bolter and Chainsword and have become interested in writing fan fiction for AoS

Feel free to think I'm odd or missing the mark. I welcome all criticism or opinions to help me draw up a better comparison.

have the stormcast of any host appeared to be undisciplined or anything but a trained part of a religious military order?

Well, yes. From the top of my head, and this is the most egregious example, we had an instance in Warstorm where the judicators fired on their own men (who were infront of the enemy) in haste and fear, and almost broke ranks. Hammers of sigmar also had Tylos' chamber almost throw itself headstrong and with no formation proper at the bloodbound.

Quiet, you! Stop citing clear examples that defy his preconceived notions!

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)
