I am honestly surprised no one else has posted this yet.

From BET https://www.bet.com/news/national/2017/12/17/george-zimmerman-jay-z.html

It sounds like Trayvon Martin’s killer doesn’t seem to be learning any lesson about his violent temper and actions.

Most recently, George Zimmerman has threatened violence against Jay-Z over the rap mogul’s documentary currently in production.

Hov announced earlier this year that he’s producing a six-part documentary series about Trayvon Martin’s life. The project is titled Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story and is based off of attorney Lisa Bloom’s book Suspicion Nation.

Apparently, this made Zimmerman angry and during an interview with The Blast, the famed killer alleges that Michael Gasparro, and the rest of the company producing the film alongside Hov is harassing his family in Florida for an interview.

As a result, Zimmerman felt like it was a good idea to threaten Jay and even alluding physical harm toward him.

“I know how to handle people who f**k with me, I have since February 2012,” Zimmerman said, referencing the exact month he killed Martin. he also says an unknown amount of money was paid to his ex-wife so she’d be in the documentary.

SMH. It’s unlikely that Jay’s worried. He’s definitely got money stacks bigger than him.

Oh, and we’re pretty sure this will make him want to put the documentary out even more.

I know its BET, and not "mainstream" news, but it can still be cross-referanced, so I'll take it as legit. I'm honestly stunned this man is still alive, he keeps getting himself into these... predicaments...

Is there any kind of a retrial or other charge that could be levied against him for implying his good shoot was actually reprisal by murder? Maybe a civil action?

I'm no lawyer, but I don't believe anything related to Martins shooting could be brought against him, on account of double jeopardy. He can say whatever he wants now. I believe Perjury is the worst charge he can face, and that's only if he blatantly does something stupid, like admit he wan't in danger during the confrontation or something.

It would be pretty poetic if Zimmerman attacked someone and it ended in a clear-cut case of self defense.

Apparently he was hanging out in a cigar bar near where I live before they asked him to never come back. I don't think he was causing any problems, just the owners didn't want him there. Really random place too. But I am sure he has trouble finding places to hang out these days.

That's because the world doesn't give a damn about Zimmerman anymore, except for click-bait "news" and gossip sites looking for an easy lure.

And despite the tone of the article painting Zimmerman as the sole villain here, the hard text has the production company looking like dicks as well. This sounds like a pop-culture production with a paparazzi attitude, so I could very well believe that they are aggravating Zimmerman's relatives for trap interviews, since easy money is on the line here. However, Zimmerman needs to keep his big mouth shut. Temper-tantrums or attention whoring isn't helping his situation any.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Looks like more than one DB in this article from Zimmerman all the way to Jay-Z.

So far as Zimmerman goes, I think of Raylan Givens. "You run into one donkey-cave in the morning, well, you just ran into an donkey-cave. You run into donkey-caves all day... you're the donkey-cave."

Six part documentary? That's a little threadbare, isn't it? Was Ken Burns not available to cover it in the full, 13 hour long episodes this subject really needs.

But there's about 13,000 deaths from guns each year and every single one of them says as much as the Trayvon Martin shooting. We won't include suicides, because that'd just be silly. So we should give a six part documentary to all of them, 78,000 episodes in total, at 22 minutes each that's 28,600 hours of television. Three tv channels could broadcast new episodes 24/7, ad free and they'd still have to go looking for a fourth channel to cover the final 2,300 hours.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

But there's no money to be made there...

Realistically, one side is in it for the money because they have no career anymore, and the other side is George Zimmerman. Its the anti-AvP: Whoever loses, we win.

EDIT: Horrid grammar.

TFW a man with a net worth of $800 million dollars who dropped an album that went platinum 6 months ago is described as doing it for the money because he has no career.

*quick googling* I apologize for my incorrect statement. I will do further research in the future. I haven't heard his name beyond being married to Beyonce in a while, whoops.

I still think its more about the money than the message though, we will have to see what it looks like when it comes out.

It keeps his name in the media. Keeps it out there, keeps it there for when the next album or project drops.

It has indirect money value.

I don't know where you got money out of my post at all. Jay-Z has hundreds of millions of dollars, his albums still sell huge copies, and don't even matter to his finances because he has so many other profit making activities. But Jay-Z has always had a political edge. He's doing this because he wants to make a political comment.

My post was criticising the decision to make the political point by focusing on the shooting of Trayvon Martin. I think this is a mistake, and it's the same mistake made by so many others. From Rodney King to OJ, to Columbine, to Sandy Hook, now to Michael Brown and Trayon Martin, it's the fixation on single events as a proxy for national issues. The US isn't unjust and racist because Martin was killed, and it wouldn't become a just place with no racial issues if he walked back to house that night. The greater issue, the constant, systemic incidents of racism are the real problem, and they are what needs to be discussed.

But instead we hyper-focus down on singular crime stories, and completely miss the scale of the problem. We argue about the minute details of whether Zimmerman confronted Martin, or vice versa, which is very relevant to that one case, but completely meaningless to the greater issue of racism and violence in the US.

So the real conversation that needs to happen never happens. Instead we just roll from one proxy battle to the next.

I think the fact that everyone has to use singular situations such as this and have a hard time quantifying systemic issues is because the systemic issues are not as racial or sexist as one would have you believe, atleast not within the government or fortune 500 companies. I bought into the whole systemic racism narrative then once I started questioning it, I could not find anything the scale as everyone claims. That is why I think these situations get singled out and used to push narratives that really have no large scale fuel, only single embers.
