Porgs for me. They looked quite tasty.

I didn't like ewoks when I was 14 (it (Jedi) came out here 2 days before my 15th birthday) and I still don't.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Porgs, because they aren't sentient.

Sentient teddy bears were one of the most irritating parts of the OT.

Ewoks actively detract from RotJ, Porgs are unobtrusive and mildly amusing in TLJ. Go team Porg!

Porgs look like they are born, live and die in a state of utter, screaming existential terror.

They are my spirit animal.

Somebody should quote you in the Wookiepedia article on Porgs.

On moon miranda.

They both actively detracted from my enjoyment of the films they respectively appeared in, so neither.

On the one hand, the Porgs at least were not a major story element, but on the other hand felt so obviously forced for the sake of a cute marketable gimmick and an Marvel style giggle that I just cant like them.

I voted Ewoks because the Porgs were just so overused in TLJ. They were a distraction even if they were cute as buttons. I think they were put in because the filmmakers needed some way to hide the island's puffin population. Since they were not allowed to relocate the puffins, they just added a similarly-sized alien species so that any you see in the background would just be more of the ubiquitous Porgs. At least that's what I heard.

I'm honestly not sure why all the hate for the Ewoks. Those plucky little teddy bears managed to defeat a modern, mechanized force with sticks and rocks (in some cases, big sticks and big rocks). They are more badass than anyone gives them credit for. If you say how unrealistic it is for a primitive race like that to defeat the Empire, remember that this is Star Wars, where space wizards live and spaceships encounter drag forces in space and make Kessel Runs in 12 parsecs (now THAT one bugs me). Realism is out the window in favor of telling a fun story. Plus the Ewoks would actually have several advantages, such as knowing the terrain, their small size making them harder to see or hit, and the fact that the Empire probably didn't take them seriously as a threat (or else they would have gone in and wiped them out before ever establishing the shield generator base there). They may only be armed with primitive weapons, but they would be really good at using those primitive weapons to full effect.

Ewoks for me, that is until I see a Jawa beat the crap of a stormtrooper with a little stick and then use his helmet as a drum.
To be fair I was a small lad when I first saw the ewoks back in the 80s so gotta choose those little furballs. I’m sure my lads would choose the porgs mind.

+1

In a less jokey sense, I vastly preferred the Porgs. I fully went in with the expectation of hating them, but I couldn't do it. I just loved how naturally they fitted onto the island, how they nested and invaded the Falcon, and when I found out later about the puffin incident, I loved them more.

For me, the Porgs were adapting a natural thing that happened.
I never really liked the Ewoks. I didn't like how they looked, sounded, and how they were able to beat the Empire how they did. I wouldn't really have an issue with them beating the Empire if they had either more numbers/losses shown (which I understand couldn't really be done) or upscale what methods they used (more lethal tactics than slings and oversized rocks). Spike pits, leading them into rebel ambushes, even picking up rebel weaponry. It might just be a thing about Stormtrooper armour being seemingly ineffective though.

Ewoks would have been better if they had been Wookies, as Lucas apparently intended. As they are, I really don't like them. Porgs, due to their relatively unobtrusive nature and good aesthetic design and behavior, get my vote.

The whole family saw the film on Christmas, and we all pretty much fell in with team porg. My wife was undecided on the film until the scene where Chewbacca roared and then the porg imitated him. First she made a noise between a whimper, a coo and a squee, and then she spent the next whole minute laugh-crying* from cuteness overload. Now she needs to have a porg plushie.
