It certainly checks all the boxes.

Fantastic, proven lead,
WW2,
Explosions.

I'll probably see this in the theatre. I missed Dunkirk there and I regret it.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Sure is funny how there's so much "'member WW2? 'member when Britain was great? 'member when we had an empire and stood alone(Russia cough cough cough) against evil from the continent? Iiii 'member!" stuff oozing out of the entertainment industry in the last wee while.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Well, from Fall 1939 until Summer 1941, the Commonwealth was alone vs the Axis powers, and it's not like Canada or Australia or India faced the same (perceived) imminent existential threat the the UK did.

I do agree there is definitely a market for nostalgic material about the good ol' days, though. I like WW2 stories these days because they bring me back to when i was 10 or 12, invincible, innocent, and fascinated by my grandparent's war.

Is it a Christmas release? My dad might want to go see this.

Or is it next year?

According to the interwebs, this has a US release Dec 22, and UK release Jan 12. I would have thought this movie could have an Xmas UK release.

Wouldn’t have clue, does look pretty good to be fair. On a side note a few Xmas’s ago was chatting to the wife’s grandfather and it turns out he was one of the guards that lined the route of Churchill’s funeral. Who’d have thought.
