Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

Someone (/u/badlydrawnchewie) posted the Marbo rules over on reddit/imgur here https://imgur.com/gallery/grUJ5

What does everyone think? Looks like he won't survive , so needs to make his points back on the ambush turn. Pretty much anything you point at him will get the kill (guardsman squad w/ any special weapon should do it, even without RF or FRFSRF) unless he's in cover.

EDIT: 65 pts HQ slot choice. https://scontent-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/26166186_10213717563885398_6078963243644945624_n.jpg?oh=f2f661eb2ceb060db42f78865f568506&oe=5AFEC560

Stalk with blade supports a charge. On the second apearance he has earned his points back.

Seems cool but...no AP on any of his weapons makes him kinda useless. He probably can make his points back in 1 turn if you get lucky.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.

how do you plan on disappearing turn 2 if you were just in melee? only possible if you wipe the unit you're attacking and no one kills you (he's a soft target) and no one comes within 6 inches of him on the enemy turn.

He's interesting, but I don't think too dangerous

hmm. yeah, I was kind of hoping he'd have some matched play points. I suppose you could just go with the rough conversion of PL=20 points and run him at 80pts if your group was cool with that.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I'm thinking he'll get matched play points as a download whenever he becomes generally available.

Today is a "limited prerelease".

I think he's mostly going to fail the "why don't I just take an Eversor" test in competitive lists if he's 60-70 pts, but he seems like a lot of fun in pretty much any other Catachan list. Have we seen the model yet?

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

He seems pretty cool. He can have 6 attacks. He will happily take on an entire cultist squad or skitarii squad. He is the most powerful guardsman and more powerful than all the DE characters (cept lelith). Not sure what people want from a single guardsman. Maybe he legend has grown beyond what he was actually capable of. Before, he would pop out, throw his demo charge, and die. He would kill a squad maybe.

For around 55pts? Im ok with him and his rules, i only wish his weapon was at least -1ap.

Well he is a guaranteed linebreaker if you hide him. So pop out as late as possible, detonate explosives, and hide in your opponent's deployment zone. That's pretty much how I always used him in 5th-6th.

Or pop him out 1st turn somewhere safe, drop mortal wounds, back into the shadows turn two and then back in for mortal wounds and linebreaker on turn 3. That could be a popular way to play him.

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

Yeah, I can see popping a demobomb on his first ambush, then hiding around till later in the game to pop up and blade/pistol off an understrength objective squad.

His d3/d6 mortal wounds is nice.
He's a catachan so his melee atks are str5
He is also good at killing weak support characters such as priests, primaris, astropaths, company commander types with weak saves with his dual threat of 3x str5 pistol shots followed by 6x str 5 melee atks even without straken in range for the extra atk.
Price point is key 80 pts makes him overpriced, 50-60 makes him a good deal for catachan players who want a distraction unit that's not 3x the cost for an assassin.
Marbo is mainly good becuase he's another source for multiple mortal wounds and when smite is nerfed in the future he is even more useful.

Yeah, seems to me that there's a very good chance he'll use bombs from safety and then either shoot or stab on turn 3. It's interesting that right now his best targets are IG characters, but those 6 shots (ignoring CHARACTER rules) + 4 attacks (or 3+6, but snipe with pistol seems better to me, unless you really need that d6" move) should be pretty effective against most unarmored INFANTRY targets.

Linebreaker, finishing off an obsec unit, and recon all seem like pretty easy objectives with sly on your roster. Interesting choice @65 pts and an HQ spot, especially with smite beta changes

Yeah it just says you can only have a detachment and it must have only AM units in it. (well i think it says 1 detachment per 1 GSC, but since the basically rules are only 3 Detachments then you can only have 1).

You can't use a named character in a brood brothers detachment (see FAQ here https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/warhammer_40000_astra_militarum_en.pdf)

That's basically 60 points for a few mortal wounds. Not too shabby.
