I was talking today with someone who was explaining to me that apparently Lion El'Jonson is awake, but waiting for the right time to reveal himself. Is this true? Anyone got an exert from the codex talking about this?
|
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Haven't read the new Codex, but he's definitely Not Ded. So unless he's in Stasis or that Marine 'Leave me alone' Coma, I guess he could well be?

One more truth remains concealed, however. Buried deep
inside the last bedrock of old Caliban is the greatest of all the Dark Angels’ secrets. Hidden in the innermost chamber
that is unreachable by all save the cryptic Watchers in the Dark, Lion El’Jonson slumbers. His wounds long healed, he awaits a time when he is most needed, when the clarion call of
battle summons him to once more lead his sons to defend the
Imperium of Mankind.
pg144., 8th ed codex.

What I remember is that he's fully healed and ready but in stasis. So he can't do anything himself but if you turn off the stasis we'll have the good old antisocial tactical genius back.

He is just pretending to be asleep for dramatic effect, waiting for the right moment when the camera zooms in dramatically on his face and he suddenly opens his eyes as loud and dramatic music reaches a crescendo in the background.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

The Lion woke.
He could hear the sound of running water from the next chamber. Wearily, after countless millennia sleeping on a cold stone slab, he rose and went to investigate.
He crossed the threshold to the next chamber as the sound of the water reached a crescendo. He was about to say something, but then Horus stepped out of the shower...

The Lion doesn’t get out of bed for less then a full scale invasion of Terra.
My guess.
Epic fight - the Rock crashes into something and splits open - “Oh man the Lion was in there the whole time. Who forgot to check the basement?”

I don't think he is awake yet, because the Lion would not have just sat in a room waiting. When the Lion wakes even the lowest neophyte on the rock will know.

He woke and decided (based on previous experience) that he needed to improve his interpersonal skills.
That was during the Plague of Unbelief in M36, he really needs a lot of work to improve. :p

I dislike how GW hijacked the Lion's "Prophesy" of returning to lead the Imperium during its darkest hour to then lead it on an even grander crusade, and gave that to Bob Guilliman instead.

I think the reasoning behind that (APART from GW having a love affair with all things Ultramarine beyond any other chapter) is that Guilliman is well known throughout the Imperium. Millions of people throughout 10000 years have visited his Shrine.
But Lion El'Johnsson is almost unknown to anyone save the Dark Angels and their descendants.
Plus Guilliman is an organizer above everything. while Lion is a warrior first.
