Gotten hold of the Talons of the Emperor box today.

Q: how do you run them since there seem to be no HQ choices, is it literally use them in say a marine list in the right slots?

For now yes though marines lose chapter trait. Alternatively inquisitor. And soon(ish) hq model gets released. Already shown in gw's facebook

Generally you grab an Inquisitor, since they're cheap and the psychic power that denies Overwatch isn't sub-faction dependent.

Someday we may get Custodes Tribunes and Oblivion Knights, but at the moment the Talons of the Emperor are an army in 30k, and two units that don't really fit naturally anywhere in the game in 40k.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

A gravis or termy captain might be able to match them for durability and such.

Though they gonna out pace a heavily armoured marine.
Thete armour allows them to ignore bad terrain or charge perks etc.

They can move despite being so armoured.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

A Custodes named character HQ from Forgeworld is coming soon(tm). No ETA at the moment but it's been announced.

I thought the new Custodes HQ was going to be plastic, and that there was already a forgeworld special character HQ in resin?

I think I remember that now. I looked back. Original post wasn't very informative but the 40k Facebook guys confirmed it was plastic. Don't know why I thought FW but I guess cause practically everything else Custodes is.

Probably because of Tribune Hale, and that we've seen the CAD design for Valdor.

Yes, you just use them as part of other Imperial armies.

I like to field a squad of them with my Imperial Guard. They work surprisingly well.

Generally, the best HQ's for them by common consensus are Inquisitors Hector Rex and Greyfax, Saint Celestine (my top recommendation) and Grand Master Voldus. I'd also recommend looking at Mephiston, Lord of Death since he has a similar stat line (lots of 5's) and is about the same movement-wise.

Hopefully GW will release Custodes stuff soon but right now we have no ETA.

Fair enough, thanks, just wondered

Have a few of them, may find an inquisitor from somewhere to run as thier own detachment

Custodes HQ? Isn't that the Emperor?

Thete supreme comandor is the Emparor.

Second is the captain General.
Below that is the tribunes and the senior prefects I think.

Thr thing is there rank system is not always 100% straight forward due to names, all squad commands being sheild captains and more.
