Over the past two months, I've had a lot of fun starting out my new Alpha Legion army (
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/739920.page) and I've decided to expand it while waiting for the new Tau codex to come out. My original list has zero long-range weapons (it contains one, count'em - one, plasma gun) and my initial thought was to invest in a whole bunch of Chaos Predators to blast away my friend's Leman Russes.
Then I saw what an amazing value the Chaos Terminator Lord Cadre box-set was (it's the one which gives you the five terminators and the chaos lord model for $70
CAD). So I decided to scrap the idea of long-range weapons and put all my eggs into the "I'm-Alpha-Legion-So-I-Can-Deploy-9-Inches-Away-From-You-To-Start-The-Game" Basket.
Here's what I came up with so far:
HQ (380)
1) Chaos Sorcerer in Terminator Armour (130)
- Combi-Bolter and Force Stave
- Powers: Smite, Prescience, and Warp Time
2) Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour (138)
- Combi-Melta and Chain Fist
3) Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour (112)
- Combi-Bolter and Power Axe
ELITES (500)
1) 10x Chaos Terminators (500)
- 4x Combi-Bolter and Power Axe
- 4x Combi-Melta and Power Fist
- 2x Reaper Autocannon and Power Maul
I know that the recommended build for Chaos Terminators is Combi-Plasma and Mark of Slaneesh, but I'm going with the above combinations because I know I can build those models straight out of the box without having to convert any extra bitz or hunt down stray arms. Plus, these numbers add up quite nicely to round figures.
Currently, that list up there gets me to 880 points and I'm torn between two possible combinations for the remaining 120. The first option would be to simply add 30 cultists and turn this into another Battalion Detachment for an additional 3 command points. The second would be to add a Chaos Lord in Jump Pack with a Combi-Melta and Lightning Claw, which would be the quicker, more efficient option in terms of modelling and painting and I would still get an additional command point for the Supreme
HQ Detachment.
Thoughts welcome and appreciated!
