So I have Inherited a massive amount of Nids....Like...A ridiculous amount of one thing in particular.....I just got 24 Carnifexes.....All with magnetized arms and options.

Is running a hive tryant and 15 carnifexes a viable list? Sounds fun as heck.

Sure it may looks real fun and exciting, and have certain potential since now Carnifexes are really good and flexible. You could have some good cannon platforms and some for mid str dakkas and some as chargers. To make it stronger I suggest using 2 Neurothropes instead of Tyrant as your HQ, cause I am afriad that your Tyrant will be focused down and those Carnifexes will suffer IB, not as punishing as last edition but -1 to hit is still annoying. If you want to make it even stronger, try bring Old One Eye as well.

Fex's can have AT range, AT melee, AI and -1 to hit, yes they are fine to play as a full list, But why not OOE in your list?

Edit: Taking a Neurothrope will give you a character with Synapse that cant be shot at easily.

I'd love to run a list with that many Carnifex , it basically nullifies anything less strong than a heavy bolter against you here's my take on a list

Heavy support detachment for 1 CP
old one eye as a HQ choice to buff all the others.

1 team of 3 Screamer killers to charge at my opponent and do the distraction Carnifex thing
1 team of 3 Thornbacks with barbed stranglers & Deathspitters to hold backline objectives and provide Anti infantry firepower
1 team of 3 basic fex with Heavy venom cannon and Claws my all-rounders to hold middle objectives

The beauty of them if that because of the monstrous brood rules a drop of three count as 1 deployment as long as you deploy them within 6 of each other
massively helping you get that +1 to first turn.

If I were to run a list like this I would probably then take a Battalion formation with 2 cheaper hq's, and also consider Tyranid warriors as my troops as they bring both Objective Secured and Synapse coverage, and are relatively cheap and the one thing Carnifex do not provide is synapse Ideally you don't want that -1 to hit where possible , otherwise consider how you are going score objectives and maybe take ripper swarms for deep striking in and holding points .

The weakness of this list is that Lascannons / anti-armour is very popular right now, any high AP D6 damage weapons are gonna hurt you badly, I would try to prioritise killing off those first or perhaps tieng them up with deep strikers Eg gargoyles. Other than that everything that can need to take -1 to hit spore cysts upgrades too because anything that can mitigate it will help and you aren't gonna be able to get venomthrope coverage for that many Fex.
