Hey all,

I quite like the idea of scouts both fluff wise and rules wise for my BA army but can’t quite get behind the models (in particular the non-sniper variants). Does anyone have any ideas for suitable conversions or alternate models to use for my BA scouts?

Thanks

Aren't the FW ones wearing Power Armor? Current era Scouts don't wear Power Armor.

Yeah they’re fully powerarmoured so not quite WYSIWYG.

Just needing a headswap? Here are some I did with Pig Iron system trooper heads.

And scout bikers with the same heads.

Vigo. Spain.

Scouts are fine models yeah, the problem are the heads.
I use scouts with Tempestus Scions heads.

This aren't mine but from google, but they are the same:

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Consider picking up the older metals - they're absolutely superb minis.

I second using scion heads, make them look quite awesome on the field. Or guard rebreather heads.

Spellcrow.com has alternate scout bodies that are nice. They don't have the chest eagle, which is a plus for many chapters. I'm considering buying them for my Space Wolves.

The Space Wolves power armored boxes have Space Wolves Scouts bits... heads and a few alternate weapon options.

Pig Iron Studios has a whole slew of different heads to choose from.

Depending on how "feral" you want your Scouts to look, some of the Fantasy line Chaos Marauders work pretty well. You'd need to do hand/weapon swaps and maybe add helmets or a proper backpack.

Anvil Industry has a whole range of Regiments bits, which would normally be used as Astra Miliatarum replacements, but could easily be Scouts. I can't recommend his stuff enough. Here are the legs and torsos. He sells weapons, arms and heads also.

etc...

Another recommendation for the Scions heads; it’s what I used on mine. The socket doesn’t quite match up to the “neck lump”, but it’s not much bother to sort out.

Back 14 years ago or so I made a unit of "free" scouts by mashing up my bits box with what I found at the local gaming store bits box.

Marine torso and marine bare head (preferably the rebreather ones), mounted to Catachan legs and catachan bear arms (hey, they all ready have the big knife). Swap the Catachan laspistol out for a bolt pistol or plasma pistol.

Are the regular Space Marine helmets too big?

They seem like the logical choice.

I've seen them used, but personally I think they look kind of goofy and oversized.

I'm making some scouts for Lost Patrol atm and the normal head doesn't fit properly either! They look like crookbacks if you stick the heads on without cutting them up to get the necks straight.

I dug through my spare bits and built some random scout snipers from the parts. I don't necessary recommend this route, but it does show some of the options from GW kit. You'll see Beak heads, bare heads from primaris kits, and legs from the Astra Militarum (mostly caidian)

your mind

Those beaks look great!

But I second the old metals. Those are what I have and
I like the models a lot as is.

The best scout conversion I thought was using Pig Iron helmets. Any marine without a helmet bothers me.
