Total: 1994pts
10 Command Points (taking into account -1 from having an additional relic)

I played against guard with a Knight, Pask and another tank commander, two 3 man lascannon teams, a load of deepstriking scions, two chimeras with double flamers with melta vets inside and got a draw.

I deployed so that my opponent couldn't get any deepstrikers into my Fire Prisms with fire Prisms on the back line, Falcons with Dire Avengers and Spiritseers on the front line and rangers Autarch and farseer covering the rest of the space with two ranger squads deploying forward to offer even more screen and juicy targets which is how I plan to play this list if I do it again. Also Karandras and the Scorpions in the shadows to deep strike in later.

Dire Avengers were great, Rangers weren't bad they did their job, Karandras was phenomenal getting into cover and absorbing 600pts of shooting in one turn. Fire Prisms were OK and did most of the damage to the Knight but I made the mistake of using Lance when the focused beam is much better, Falcons weren't bad either putting out a lot of shots with how I have them equipped maybe would have been more effective with Starcannons instead, Autarch was also great, Spiritseers were good but I was planning to get Enhance off on the Scorpions but decided to deploy these at the back out of range of enhance, Farseer was good too.

I could have gone for Alaitoc attribute but it wasn't a cutthroat competitive game so I went for Biel-tan and this increased damage output and allowed for use of the Spirit Stone. I could have gone for the Alaitoc relic on the Spiritseer then deployed with the Scorpions.

I used Supreme Disdain, Linked Fire and reroll strategems. Supreme Disdain was supposed to stack with the Scorpion Exarch and Karandras ability to give the Exarch 3 extra attacks for every 5+ to hit but as I said I couldn't get Enhance off.

Well, looks not bad.
I'd put Karandras, Scorpions, and Rangers in an Alaitoc detachment for obvious reasons.

I could have easily formed a Alaitoc battalion with Rangers, Karandras and the Farseer actually. The Spiritseers were Biel-tan because they couldn't travel in the falcon's otherwise.

The thing is my opponent targeted my rangers with his double flamer chimeras so was auto hitting anyway and my Striking Scorpions were within 12" of most units shooting at them anyway so wouldn't have changed the game too much

I'm with wuestenfex, if you can put Rangers in an Alaitoc detachment, you should. Everytime.

If you are having an issue with a particular army, change tactics accordingly. For example, if you know they have Chimera with flamers, don't deploy the Rangers anywhere near them, then kill/engage the Chimera in the first turn.

If you cannot do that, it is still better to have them as Alaitoc for games against everything other than Chimera.
