So, first of all, sorry for disappearing. I was so stoked to be a dakka member and then life just got in the way. On the bright side, I'm back and hopefully I wont be going anywhere for awhile.

Okay, now to beg for help. Ive recently begun collecting and painting Kingdom Death and I could really use some help with basing. I wanted to use a green stuff world textured rolling pin for an easy and great looking base, but I cant decide which (to much choice!!), then there's always the option to use the GW texture paints. Of course some of the models will be on unique basses specific to it (e.g. the face base inserts) but otherwise I would like the collection to have some cohesion. But then I could always go in the exact opposite direction and make each base special and individual to the model (which is tempting as all get out but I fear it might be slightly beyond me). I'll add some links for those interested.

Any help/advise or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I've been using one of the textured rollers for my Death Guard and I really like it, but I've come to the conclusion that it's not enough on its own to make a proper base. You need something else to add a bit of three-dimensionality, whether that's rubble, foliage or something else. I imagine the same would be especially true with the textured paint.

The real question here is whether you want to go for an organic or man-made look. If you want to have some kind of tiling or stonework floor then you should go with the roller, but if you want to have a more natural look then you should use the paint.
