I've decided to give this it's own thread, rather than have it buried in my P&M blog. Please do drop your updates below, and link them to your own blogs.
I've reposted the intro post here, as well as my Post #2, followed by the much larger Post #3 featuring 10 other people's work.

If you're new around here, you might be wondering... What's Painting Decembuary?

From 23rd Nov, 2017:
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/2670/551946.page#9710144

I’ve talked about Painting December recently, which was a thing I did a couple of years ago when I decided to paint up a couple of the larger, more impressive models that I’d collected over the years – which just get pushed aside because I often have a bit of a mental block when it comes to painting things larger than “human” sized. So my plan this year is to “Revive” it, and paint some of the larger, more impressive models that I’ve had sitting around for years.

When I brought it up, a few other people indicated interest, and so – hey, why not make it a bit of a community thing for whomever wishes to participate.

So here’s the “rules” for anyone who wants to join in:

It would be a nice thing to paint something new/different/interesting/cool over the Christmas/Summer/Winter break. Something that works as a centrepiece model of some kind.

1) ++++EXPUNGED++++
2) Nothing smaller than an AoS hero or Ogre-sized model – I’m looking to have fun doing the kind of centrepiece models I don’t usually allow myself to work on due to the backlog.
3) ++++EXPUNGED++++
4) No Scenery – either Big pieces or Scatter terrain – I’ll usually work on these sorts of things over summer anyway and I’ve got a few of each part done, but they’re separate things to this “project”.
5) ++++EXPUNGED++++
6) ++++EXPUNGED++++
If you’d like to play too, you can skip stipulations 1, 3, 5 and 6, but bear in mind this isn’t about building models, it’s about painting them – and getting at least one model completed from start to finish, not including assembly. (Maybe we can do Building April or something later?)

You can start (and complete) assembly anytime you like, including before you get started or the challenge officially begins. When does it begin? I’m glad you asked!

It begins in December. You set your own exact start date.

Ideally when you start to get some time off so you can settle down and relax a little and enjoy some painting time. It concludes at the end of January. If that gives you enough time to finish a cool model – that’s bloody awesome. If it gives you enough time to finish a half-dozen cool models – even bloody better!

My own work this year doesn’t close up until 22nd December, so that’s probably going to be my own “official” start time, but I’ve been assembling, and I’m even allowing myself to base coat from a spray can before I “start”.

If you’d like to participate, then just drop a note in the comments. Make sure to smash that like button, share and subscribe! Hit the notification Bell so you can.. oh wait, I’m not an annoying YouTube vid. So yeah. Just leave a note in the comments, and Ill put together a “home base” post with links to participants blogs. Also let me know when you officially start doing stuff, as I’ll do “round up” updates every so often. Maybe/probably/hopefully once a week over Dec and Jan. I can't be arsed making another thread for it, especially since it's a short-form event, and people can have heaps of photos on their own blogs. (If you don't have your own Plog, feel free to post your stuff in this thread). If there are a gakload of people wanting to participate, I'll do a thread, but I can't see it, TBH.

And yes, I’m setting myself a pair of Nurgle Daemons as my own personal target. The Great Unclean One from 1997 that has been sitting in my lead pile since 1997 and the much more recent Forge World Nurgle Daemon Prince known as Mamon Transfigured. If I’m successful with this pair, there are a few older models I started but never finished (Be’Lakor, Marauder Giant, Rogue Idol) and plenty of others not yet touched.

From Dec 6th, posted on the 21st:

Here's that Dec 6th Update:

Sorry about the lack of updates. I’ve got gak happening IRL of pretty much the worst kind. I’m also not keeping up on other people’s blogs properly, nor am I much good at replying. I’m just dropping in and out almost randomly depending on how I feel at that exact moment on both reading and commenting. I’ll talk about the situation later, but for the time being, I’m trying to stay sane by working a lot and doing a little bit of painting.

Working on Mamon Transfigured from Forge World, and a little on the metal GUO.

I’m not especially happy with the rusted barrel. It looks too much like a red barrel rather than a rusted one. I’m aware that the WIP lighting is kinda gakky, though – so you can’t see it properly. I’ll see how it looks once more of the daemon is done, and tweak from there.

Others doing the Painting Decembuary thing so far are:

Zergsmasher is painting Mortarion.

Imperial Rebel Ork aka IRO via Wordpress.

Working on a converted Ogre/Ogor/Mournfang Stonehorn.

We’ve had a few other people (both on WordPress and Dakka) pledge to start, though IRO and Zerg are the only ones I know of that have started posting so far. I’ll include people’s updates in the above form when I do new Decembuary posts.

TODAY - 9th January:
It’s been awhile since the last update on this shared challenge project, but here we are – better late than never!

Nothing at all new from me at this stage, though I still intend to complete the GUO and Daemon Prince, they’ve gotten bumped a little while I attempt to clear some space by finishing off some other figures. However, my own lack of progress has thankfully been eclipsed by a number of others out there int he community, so without any further ado…

Joshinjapan has made some great strides, completely painting his
Great Cthulhu from Reaper Bones.

Ian Sturrock has started on a trio of Frost Giants from Bones III.

Zergsmasher has smashed out Mortarion, and an amazing job he’s done of it, too. Especially with all that fiddly assembly!

Over on Wordpress, Davekay from Scent of a Gamer has been working on Reaper Miniatures’ massive Bones model, Goremaw. He’s completed it, in fact!

Ann from Ann’s Imperium has been Nurgling it up with a Foetid Bloat-Drone “Becky the Bloater”…

Ann also decided to ramp up the challenge by adding in a unit of Plague Drones and a Myphitic Blight-Hauler. She’s also working on some Nurglings, but while they don’t count towards the challenge, they do make for some good Nurglesque painting practice.

Alex from Leadbaloony has been working on his own version of Arkhan the Black, largely made from Grenadier Miniatures’ Death Dragon.

Imperial Rebel Ork aka IRO is still working on a converted Ogre/Ogor/Mournfang Stonehorn.

The 28th Scribe is working on Grymdraig from Mierce Miniatures. I didn’t even know about this one!

Wudugast from Convert or Die has been working on a Skaven Screaming Bell as a worthy cap to his Year of the Rat project. No reports yet on whether it’ll be converted or there will be a Skaven sacrificed to appease the blog’s name..

Tinpotrevolutionary has started a Space Marine Dreadnought for his Iron Eagle marines. Some lovely greyshading so far.

As for myself, I’ve been doing a small bit of painting, barely any gaming (video or tabletop) and doing a mountain of cleaning the house. I’m still way behind on catching up with people’s blogging from the last month, so if I’ve somehow missed anyone’s Painting Decembuary posts, please do prompt me in the comments and also accept my apologies.

Today we have another update to the Decembuary project for this year. The amazing work just continues to flow here!

Imperial Rebel Ork aka IRO has completed his impressive project of a converted Ogre/Ogor/Mournfang Stonehorn. Who's a hungry boy, then?

Alex from Leadbaloony has completed his custom Arkhan the Black. Amazing OSL on show here!

Several more projects continue apace:

Archer from here on Dakka was involved from the challenge (presumably) from the start, but I couldn't find his pictures because post me a link if you're joining in a challenge I'm compiling, dammit. Ahem. A Necron Monolith in it's early stages (as of last posting, anyway)

Ann from Ann's Imperium has continued to work on her (in)famous Foetid Bloat-Drone "Becky the Bloater". I'm loving that mottled green.

Tinpotrevolutionary 's Iron Eagles Space Marine Dreadnought has started to have the details filled in. The Brass really pops against the grey.

The 28th Scribe has updated on his progress with Grymdraig from Mierce Miniatures. The armour and skin are looking great here.

And - oh yeah - me.

I've put the Forge World Daemon Prince to one side for the time being in order to concentrate on the metal Great Unclean One. I'll put up an actual update post of my own in the next day or three, but here's a current pic snapped a few minutes ago.

Like myself for most of this challenge, a few participants haven't posted an update since the last round-up, though I'm sure that painting continues feverishly behind the scenes. Just scroll up the page to see their most recent updates

And the gallery of previously-completed work:

Joshinjapan did an inspirational job on Great Cthulhu from Reaper Bones. So inspirational that I'm probably going to steal it.

Zergsmasher smashed out Mortarion, who looks great.

Davekay from Scent of a Gamer completed Reaper Miniatures' massive Bones model, Goremaw. Just don't put your hand too close when feeding...

If all goes to plan, I'll do another round-up next weekend followed by a final wrap-up late next week.

Lots of great stuff so far. The GUO looks sweet so far, and I'm really digging that old Grenadier skeletal dragon.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

So here we are. Wrapping up the second time this challenge has been a thing, and the first time I've invited others to participate if they so wish. There was triumph, tragedy, we laughed, we cried, there were tears, and fears. And possibly someone listened to Tears for Fears at some point. I'd hoped to complete the 1996 Great Unclean One as well as one (or two) Forge World Nurgle Daemon Princes, and maybe a Herald of Nurgle, maybe the Original Great Unclean One, and possibly even finish Be'lakor and the Marauder Giant that still languish on my desk and shelf, unfinished from the previous Painting December of 2015. HA!

I did get the '96 GUO finished, and Mamon, Daemon Prince and the Original GUO are both close enough that they will be complete very shortly. Probably later today for the original GUO, in fact - and hopefully by tomorrow night for Mamon. (I'm typing this on Saturday.)

Joshinjapan completed what I last time called an inspirational job on Great Cthulhu from Reaper Bones. Somuch so, that I've been looking for the same paints that he used locally (with little luck, so far).

Archer completed his Necron Monolith.  He's gone for a sandstone-and-metal look which has come up really very nicely. More photos are buried at the bottom of his gigantic post.

Zergsmasher smashed out a great Mortarion. All those fiddly details!

Wudugast from Convert or Die completed his Skaven Screaming Bell.

The 28th Scribe completed Grymdraig from Mierce Miniatures. A nice subtle use of brass and verdigris on the torso add interest and detail to the completed model.

Alex from Leadbaloony converted and painted a personalised version of Arkhan the Black, using a combination of Grenadier's old-school Death Dragon, and old Citadel Skeleton Cavalry model, and a few spectral undead models for the basing.

Dave Kay from Scent of a Gamer completed Goremaw, a huge model from Reaper's Bones line. I've been working on getting my own Goremaw assembled after seeing his completed one!

TinPot Revolutionary completed Venerable-Brother Dracorus of the Iron Eagles Space Marine Chapter.  Sharp, neat highlights combined with a muted, military colour scheme makes the extra details really pop.

Last finished model to show, but very much not least is Imperial Rebel Ork's fantastic Ogre/Ogor Mournfang Stonehorn and rider.

There were a few non-completions - both shared online and not, but hopefully those figures will now be well on their way to being done. And there's no reason they can't be used as content for any future painting challenges, either here or elsewhere if it comes to it. Anything that helps motivate us to get more stuff done is a good thing, after all.

Ian Sturrock is close to completion on his Bones Frost Giants. Having been interrupted by a house move, he just needs to find everything (because packing) to drive them to final completion.

Ann from Ann’s Imperium's work on Foetid Bloat-Drone “Becky the Bloater” appears to have stalled out at the end of January. I've heard that Becky might make a reappearance as part of Leadballoony Alex's Fembruary Challenge.

Thomas of High Times on the Eastern Fringe was working on a Khorne Lord of Skulls. He appears to have been distracted by the schemes of Tzeentch, however. Hopefully one day Khorne's big mechanical champion shall arise!
