Hey folks, last year at Adepticon, I used a Citadel Case and small Miniature Bag to transport my Army and I hated it. It was all bulky and awkward for my Eldar. This year, I have a larger force of Death Guard to transport, and I wanted to hear some options on how you all transport your armies at a larger tournament. I currently keep my dudes in pluck foam, for ease of storage at home. (plus when cats and rabbits decide to knock stuff down, they have a cushion)

If you are taking a plane or other public transit I recommend battlefoam bags. The hold up well and you can order custom trays for your really fragile stuff.

If you are driving up I can't speak enough about using baking trays with magnetized bases. Laid flat, it'll resist most speed bumps and it's pretty easy to just take your figures right off the tray and deploy them without fussing with a bag.

I bought a rolling hospital tray for $50. I have seen many other rolling trays at several events. I attached a basket to hold my empty Platoon Carrier bags that models ride in when I drive.

The cookie sheets and magnets ChargerIIC recommended are great too.

There are several ... laser burned wood ( I forget the correct term ) trays available from several companies, too.

Search the 'Net and have your credit card ready.

KR multicase for me to transport my 30k models. Pure plastic is just any old box.

Battle Foam all the way.

For tournaments I have used an Olympia 3-Shelf Collapsible 4-Wheeled Multi-Purpose Utility Cart. The middle shelf can be removed and a Battle Foam 720 bag then fits perfectly on the bottom shelf. I'll put my army on the top and set my books and game aids on top of my 720 bag.

My 2k list requires i truck around around 170 miniatures. I use battlefoam. Game to game, just a box with several different piles.

I use battle foam to get my army from home to the event and back again.

Once at the venue, I put my army on a display tray where it stays for the rest of the convention.

Probably work

I put the army in a battlefoam bag usually for the trip. Toward the end of my Adepticon TT career, I bought a plastic utility cart for the team that we used to move from one table to the next. It worked really well, but got in the way sometimes, particularly when I ran into other people doing the same thing.

Something I've been doing lately with my low model count armies is getting metal toolboxes and magnetizing the bases of my minis. I just stick them inside and walk away. It works particularly well for models with fragile little bits like GK, though large/heavy minis are kind of an issue.

Thanks for all the advice! I plan to go with Battle Foam. The 1520XL seems to fulfill all my needs for transport. I also plan to look into display boards and such.

I did that to my Necrons because I had a metal cart - figured they wouldn't fall or shuffle around when I was on the move between games (wraiths have enough of a problem standing up when the earth isn't shifting beneath their feet). One issue I discovered at Nova that year is that apparently poker chips have a bit of metal in the center as I kept walking away with objectives accidentally when my warriors hopped out of their night scythes and started foot slogging.

Custom make your case interior with foam core. Pick and pluck or even laser cut foam is too bulky and you can't get all your models into a single case.

Buy an EMPTY Battle Foam P.A.C.K. 432. It is carry on size for every domestic airline carrier. Then, using foam core, razor, ruler, and hot glue make an interior box. Then, every new list, create subdividers, custom-fit to your army. I fly to tourney's. Never broke a model. It's cheap, customized and reuseable.

If anyone is curious about what I ended up doing, I went and ordered the "Division" by Sabol. It holds a bunch, is really nicely built, and is available (other options failed #3). I would have ordered from Battlefoam but an email I received back from them really put me off and I think I would have had to order all new foam. Thanks for all your input!
