So, building a list for 2500pts, and I want Skarbrand. Great model, and Carnage seems like too much fun to pass up. Not big tournament, just for fun play.

Priests would be for damage, healing and boosting the bubble, two big units of melee guys if Skarbrand is focused down, and lots of shooting (you know, for a Khorne army). Thoughts?

Does anybody have any thoughts? And given the drop of the Maggotkin book, I’m considering dropping the two mutalith beasts for a unit of 10 blight kings with Gutrot Spume appearing right at the 9” cutoff; they’d have to deal with that, Skarbrand racing up, and Skullcannons firing away. Plus giant hordes of cranked up reavers rushing headlong into battle.

Feels like too many threats; what do you hit first?

First thing that stands out to me is the units of 5 Bloodwarriors, I'm not a fan of running them at min since it makes them so easily removed, personal preference really. I'd consider dropping the vortex beasts for a soul grinder and bloodstoker to make those reavers even nastier. Other than that I'm digging it, I love me some skull cannons!

You'd be better off running a Slaughterbrute w/ a Khorne Bloodbound hero to bind it to instead of Vortex Beasts. That way, all your units benefit from the Portal of Skulls.

I did build a second list as well with a 'stoker in it. I know a Vortex beast doesn't get Khorne bonuses, but I figured it would be some brutal ranged attacks that either neuter stats or deal mortal wounds. I'll throw the third alternate list with Gutrot and some Nurgle Blight-pirates (blightkings) later as well, but the whole idea was to run some crazy things that have to be dealt with, giving Skarbrand a chance to reach the lines. Second list was this, with no Gore-Pilgrim bonus (cuz it is SO freaking costly):

So I ran a smaller variant (2000) and got pounded. Ratling guns, man!! Skarbrand must NOT charge chaff units, even if they’re in the way of his target. He was blown off the board turn 2 by 5 ratling guns.

I’m wondering if it would be worth it to throw a Gorepilgrim battalion with a block of 40 Bloodreavers, 2 priests, 1 Bloodsecrator, 5 Blood Warriors, Skarbrand and 2 30-man units of Bloodletters and a single Skull Cannon at him. I might have to actually drop to 30 bloodreavers, I think, based on points.

How does this sound to you guys? 2000pt game, which looks like what I can get in at this stage.
