Hey guys was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on my first tyranid list I've ever put together. Been playing marines (BA and UM) for years but always wanted a Xenos army and I finally finished building what I have in this list and looking forward to my first game this week. I'm planning on eventually adding in a flying Hive tyrant once they come back in stock in my area as somewhat an answer to fliers. Any advice/ tips at making this list more competitive would be much appreciated thanks!

Plan is to keep one of the neurothropes in the back with the rupturefex's and hiveguard for synapse and as a second catalyst backup incase the death of the second neurothrope who will advance with the stealers, supported by broodlord, and Malanthrope.

purchased malanthrope before CA thinking about replacing him with 3 venomthropes instead. originally wanted him with the Kronos gun line but realized the stealers are quite vulnerable when you don't get first turn and they get shot at before getting catalyst off

Gunna throw the horror on broodlord since he should be in a better forward position to cast on enemy units.

Trygon will pop out with devilgaunts to eliminate any screens. If he fails charge with cp reroll hopefully the -1 relic will keep in alive while also making my opponent choose to shoot the trgon in his face or my rupturefex's.

Finally the rippers can either be used deny/ control enemy DS from possible alpha strikes, objective grabbers depending on the enemy, and or DS out of LOS close to enemy and use anti-psychic Kronos stratagem shenanigans

Any advice/ tips to help make this list competitive and tournament ready would be much appreciated!

That's not too bad. I think you're a little light on bubble wrap so you want to try more if you have problems. You could also look at running pure Jormondgandr. They do well at gunlines, and can ds very well.

Good luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!

Hey Jeff,

Great list. I was thinking that you might be better off removing the Tyrannofex and adding more stealers and Hive Guard. This will basically give them no targets for their heavy weapons. Even considered dropping the Trygon and just bringing a second termagaunt unit and double advancing it first turn, but I don't think that you will have enough room in the deployment zone without some of them deep striking in. Take a look at the following:

Broodlord
Malanthrope

2x16 Genestealers
1x17 Genestealers
21 Devourer Gaunts

Trygon

2x Neurothropes

3x3 Rippers

6 Hive Guard
5 Hive Guard

The large units of Hive Guard give you a great target for the double shot stratagem. Given they are out of sight, and double shooting, I think that you will get more bang for the buck, and they will live longer, than the Tyrannofexes. You just give up on some range....

Thanks for the reply! I looked into jormongandr in the beginning when I was planning the list out before making purchases In the end I just loved the synergy between krakens hive fleet ability and stratagem with the stealers & broodlord. Do you think the 4+ cover save and -1 to hit from the malanthrope would be make the genestealers more survivable? With the amount of -ap out there I've just never rely on cover saves. I'll have to try a game out and try it out. Deffinatly know what you mean on bubble wrap gunna do some test games and see how the rippers will come into play in denying ds areas close to the gunline allowing a unit of stealers to intercept any alpha strike DS units. Thanks for the advice!

Damn! Now I'm tempted to grab a lot more hive guard! Just the idea of forcing my opponent to shoot heavy weapons like Lascannon's at my gaunts and stealers is just so tempting! Ha

Thanks for the advice !
Deffinatly gunna look more into that, just gotta slowly acquire some more hive guard!
