I've been craving an apocalypse battle recently so I was just mentally counting up how many points I can field, then I realised something: I own 8 super heavy models, ranging from Primarchs, to Daemon engines, to mini titans. I didn't initially think that this was a lot but then I thought about 2 of my closer friends who had been playing for just as long as me: one is an IG player with 4 super heavies and the other is an Ork player with 5 super heavies. Come to think of it, even my friend who plays Imperial Knights only has 6 knights.

So now I have to ask the question: do I have too many Super Heavies? Or do I not have enough and me and my mates have been woefully under armed in the Super Heavy department?

Be interesting to see how many Super Heavies everyone has and, if you want to leave a comment, what army/ies are they for.

At present I just have a single Renegade Knight for my Death Guard. Later this year I do intend to purchase a second and perhaps a super heavy tank from Forge World for them as well.

I find one Super Heavy is all that you REALLY need for matched play. I use a Lord of Skulls, and got a Renegade Paladin off to the side.

Edit: scratch that, I lied. I own a Wraithknight and Magnus. Haven't played with either so I forgot about them.

I haven't got a one, but really they're your stuff, only you should be the judge of how many is too many! or too few, really.

Personally i prefer smaller models to really giant ones so i can't imagine ever having any. My favorite imperial guard tank is and probably always will be the chimera, that's the sort of "big" tank I like.

It's a nice centerpiece model, and performs adequately. A full Knight army would be really cool, but I doubt it would be particularly fun to play or play against.

I currently don't own any super heavy stuff but I'm looking into maybe a Spartan or Fellblade.

They wouldn't see much use but damn do they look good.

2. A knight Warden and a Knight Atrapos.

None. That may change in the future, but I think I'd only ever field one at a time, and then only in a game somewhere in the 2000 point range.

So I'm up to 8. I also play quite a bit of apocalypse, so that's why I have so many.

3 knights and a baneblade

I currently own about 10,000 points of Marines and not a single super heavy, though I do hope to add a Thunderhawk at some point.

I've always favored a MSU approach to list building rather than Death Stars or SHV.

Also, transporting models to and from shop is a pain, so if I cant fit everything into a single Sabol bag, I don't even consider it.

I firmly believe they belong in huge (3000+) point games only, but I do have 3, and for good reason:

Spartan Assault Tank - because it can actually carry a 20-man Crusader Squad

Typhon Heavy Seige Tank - because I love Vindicators and Land Raiders, and this thing is essentially a Land Raider caught halfway through eating a Vindicator

Fellblade - quite simply because it is, in my opinion, the best looking model GW makes (particularly when blinged up to fit in with the Black Templars!)

I've got a Chaos Knight. I planned on buying some one or more of the FW tanks and possibly the Kytan.

2 knights, baneblade, warhound, Horus so 5.

3 Imperial Knights - all of these are freeblades, one was for looks, one was to go with an army, and the last was for knight on knight fights like some sort of robot fighting league (it's a gallant of course).. still need to work out some sponsor decals for it if I ever revisit the idea. But then I'd probably want to build more knights for it so it's probably best to leave it alone.

None as I haven't really found a super heavy that I actually would want to use. That being said I do hope to get/scratch build a Stompa (no WAAAAGH is complete without a proppa stompa) but i got a gak ton of models that need to be assembled and painted before I start up such a project.

My superheavies include (since the term is somewhat loosely defined in this thread):
A Renegade Knight, originally for my Khorne Daemonkin army in 7th edition, where it served with distinction and reaped many skulls for Khorne.
A KV128 Stormsurge Ballistic Suit for my Tau. It too served me well in 7th, but like the Renegade Knight it has yet to see a table in 8th.
Mortarion, Daemon Primarch of the Death Guard. He's seen a few battles and I consider him a very good investment.
I also have a loyalist Imperial Knight, still on sprues. Not sure that counts though. I've got little incentive to get it built and painted since Knights just aren't very good in 8th for their points.

I've had the Armorcast models since the 90's, I only finally ever used them in a game late this last year.

If you go beyond GW though, I have quite a few 1/35 model tanks, Gundam kits, Robotech toys and Pacific Rim figures I could play 28mm Adeptus Titanicus/Epic if I felt like it.
