So I'm running out of space for my models and the wife suggested we buy big plastic bins that are sealable and put them on our balcony. Are there any risks to my models like that? I live in Canada where is is cold and can be really hot as well

Cold will definitely damage metal minis if the temp gets low enough (and in Canada I'm betting it will). It's called tin wasting, basically the tin in the mini will turn to powder and flake off.
Plastic will probably be a little more stable, but I'm not sure how well the paint jobs will hold up.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy. |

Risk of theft?
Assuming you made it water tight the biggest problem you might have is heat. I have no idea what the weather is like in Canada, but your plastic box will work like a solar oven. Heat will go in but won't escape quickly. Whether or not it poses a problem depends on how hot it gets. Here in Australia it's not uncommon to hear about models left in cars warping during summer.

Its all plastic minis so on that front I'm ok. I haven't sealed any of them should I do that? It can get a high of 30-35 degrees on rare occasions

Temp shifts can also weaken superglue bonds.

Indeed, uncertainty can be very harmful to my models. I usually just pick what I'm going to use by what models I like rather than changing with every edition and tend to not keep extras around. It really cuts down on the whether damage.

I'd be more worried about the glue than the paintjob. Generally, extreme temperatures aren't going to be kind to your figs.

Between extreme temps, and humidity...I think it's a bad idea.

I agree with what most people are saying. Super glue is sensitive to temperature swings, resin warps heavily when subjected to heat, most plastics that aren't specifically made for outdoor use deteriorate in extreme temperatures. I recommend finding a way of storing your minis in more even temperatures.

I would suggest instead, you buy the kind of plastic containers for wrapping paper and such, low profile in any case, and stick them under your bed if you have any space. You'll likely want to measure if you're not sure first.
