Hello Praetors, centurions, librarians and Primachs alike.

I thought I'd make a thread for your favourite in game moment from your Horus Heresy games so far.

Mine was playing against a friends Dark Angels the game was fairly close but despite my best efforts his Typhon was still at 4 Hull points. Kharn and his Butchers out his Spartan, I had a plasma support squad and the typhon in charge range of the unit. I thought if I'm going to win I need a bit of luck anyway so I'll see how this goes.

Kharn charged the typhon, butchers into the Plasma. The plasma was butchered so it was up to Kharn. He hit all 6 attacks... with armorbane and S5 he needed 9s or more to take the Typhon down. I rolled 2 9s and a 10... 1 pen. 1 6 to destroy the Typhon.. he does it! AND survives the explosion! Kharn the Bloody, what a man.

Someone dropped Horus and a squad of Justaerin on me once. I dumped the combined template fire of ten Grave Wardens into them; it took a lot of rolling but by the time all the disgusting chemical-y smoke had cleared Horus was on his own with two wounds remaining.

Somewhere in the dark...

Tanking Russ over 4 rounds with my Tribune as my Aquilon terminators mopped up his terminator bodyguard then proceeded to pummel Russ into the ground with solarite gauntlets. By the time he went down, my Tribune was hitting on 6s but the terminators hadn't been in b2b so when they finally did get into b2b with Russ they hit on 4s.

I have a few.

My loyalist Luna Wolves were fighting against the Night Lords led by the Nigh Haunter himself. As I had no Primarch to throw against him, I charged the Night Haunter and his body guard of raptors with an Imperial Knight. The Knight held them at bay for a round while my forces surrounded the Primarch and what was left of his body guard. Two tactical squads and a 10 man Plasma support squad opened fire at close range. When the smoke cleared I was left with a very angry and very much alive Night Haunter who proceeded to butcher two entire squads before escaping.

Another favorite of mine was with my Thousand Sons "loyalists" against another Night Lord force in a ZM game at a HH event. The Loyalists on the surface took control of a teleportation array and were able to send one unit up to the ship that the ZM board was representing. I sent up my Praetor with a 5 man Sekhmet body guard to take on Sevetar himself. While loosing most of the unit they managed to turn the tide in favor of the loyalist forces and drive the Night Lords from the ship.

"I was never a Son of Horus. I was and remain a Luna Wolf. A proud son of Cthonia, a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

Armies.
Luna Wolves 4,000 Points
Thousand Sons 4,000 Points.

Mine was my IW against a friend's IF. 55 point attack bike with multimelta and melta bombs. Turn one it killed a vindicator with a lucky pen roll. Second turn it killed the second in the unit with the gun, and the third in combat with the bomb. Turn three it killed a vindi with Las array. At this point, he took note of the damage it was doing and charged it with Polux and the surviving veteran sgt (ironfire barrage having killed the rest). Twin linked bolters killed the sgt. No way was I going to get a six again with the multimelta... No way was he going to fail his 3++...

He still weeps when he sees it on the table.

At my desk

Maybe not a single moment but this has always stuck with me as a pure show of Astartes might in very cinematic fashion.

Playing against a Militia Cults list that's basic infantry spam to the max with my Blood Angels and some Imperial Fists allies. My opponent was very confident (almost to the point of cockiness) in his 160 infantry.

Using the Day of Revelation rite I put two twenty man assault squads and a ten man destroyer squad into charging range on the first turn. These were quickly followed by an Imperial Fists tactical squad using Fury of The Legion.

He conceded at the start of turn 3.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

At the LVO this weekend I brought an Army of Dark Compliance. My 2nd Militia squad chased an Iron Hands Malcador for 3 turns and finally managed to blow it up with Krak grenades! The explosion vaporized most of the squad but they were heros! Lol 80 point squad killed a almost 400 point superheavy tank! Promotions and medals to follow!

“Victory is not an abstract concept, it is the equation that sits at the heart of strategy. Victory is the will to expend lives and munitions in attack, overmatching the defenders’reserves of manpower and ordnance. As long as my Iron Warriors are willing to pay any price in pursuit of victory, we shall never be defeated.” - The Primarch Perturabo, Master of the Iron Warriors

My favourite moment so far was when sigismund took on guilliman and 5 custodes and survived for 2 turns before he was finally slain. Didn’t kill anyone but lasted longer than expected

Every time my Ordinatus Ulator fires is my favorite moment of the game.

(Particularly epic moments include Angron shrugging off its hit before getting blenderized by the Deflagrate on the secondary weapons (Volkite Culverins) and doing 35 wounds to a Wraithknight in one shot vs 40k eldar in 7th).
