Gurus. LVO this weekend. Just want to be sure I play this right. I have 2 Mek Gunz with 5 grots each.

- They drop as single unit
- After play starts, the guns and their crews are separate units.

That is to say... their are now FOUR units. Two crews and two guns.

Is that right?

Correct. "From that point on, each Mek Gun and each 5-model group of Grot Gunners acts as separate units."

It funny it's actually an exception to the "a unit must be deployed in coherency" since you can theoretically spread them all out 3" from each other, but that would probably cause an opponent to complain, and TOs are a capricious lot.

This is an older thread and I ask the indulgence of the board, but are we sure about this? I faced this today and didn't bring it up at the table, but I checked the Index 2 when I got home.

The rule for Mek Gunz states that "A unit of Mek Gunz and its Grot Gunners must be deployed as a single group...From that point on, each Mek Gun and each 5-model group of Grot gunners acts as a single unit."

It says acts "as a single unit" and not separate units. That would seem to me that each gun and group of gunners acts as a single unit and not as separate ones, which means that each group of gunners must stay with its gun. They use the word "single" and not "separate." The groups of guns/gunners, though, are single units in and of themselves. My read tells me that the gunners must stay with their guns and not be untargetable separate units that can wander around and do other things.

Did you check the Index Xenos 2 FAQ?

Change the final sentence to read:
‘From that point on, each Mek Gun and each 5-model group of Grot Gunners act as separate units.’

cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'
