So given the... many debates about how Rubrics didn't really get anything to make them feel special in the Thousand Sons codex, I got thinking about this stratagem again. Veterans is a fantastic stratagem, one of the best uses of CP in the game. The idea of using it on Rubricae and Scarab Occults is exciting; now those inferno bolters can threaten even t7 targets! Except you have to ask yourself why you're not using this stratagem on tzaangors, who can stack it with their fight twice stratagem (cheapest of its kind, by the way) for a juicy and highly lethal combo.

But... why can tzaangors use Veterans of the Long War in the first place? They are not veterans, any more than the Renegade Chapter marines that are already excluded from the stratagem in the CSM codex. Same deal with poxwalkers and cultists in the other books. It'd ultimately be a nerf, but I propose that Veterans of the Long War be FAQ'd to exclude cultists, tzaangors, and poxwalkers from its use. Make it a Cool Thing that only marine infantry can take advantage of, giving us a much stronger argument for using power armored units over the chaff.

Honestly I'm more upset that Rubric and Plague Marines don't have the Vet statline that Berserker and Noise Marines get.

Yeah. I cannot see a plague zombie surviving learning from thousands of years of warfare.

Maybe like a lucky cultists but they'd be a full blown chaos lord of they had served, gained and gained powers and gods favour...

A human chaos lord could threaten Horus.. Or maybe abaddon.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
