Have you guys heard when the 30k angels book is supposed to come out now? Wanting to know when I need to hide the bank password from my wife. I know it was supposed to come out already but somebody at Forgeworld passed away and that set things way back. I'm hoping it comes with the release of some DA elite mini's and the Lion.

Firstly, the book was never due to be released already, it was set back from early this year (around the time of the weekender) to later this year.
Secondly it was Alan Bligh, the lead writer and driving force behind 30k that died in may last year which has caused a decrease in activity as the loss came as a shock to everyone and he's not likely to be replaced any time soon as his metaphorical shoes that need filling were the biggest at forgeworld when he was alive, there really wasn't anyone more important or integral to the production of their horus heresy range.

It was a tremendous blow.

I also think that while HH was the big dog at FW 12-18 months ago, the return of Specialist Games has to have affected their priorities somewhat.

Now they have BB, NM, and soon Titanicus all demanding time and attention. These products are also sold by GW proper, so I have to believe there are more corporate pressures involved with them than with a niche, expensive product line only sold direct from FW.

I don't expect HH Book VIII: Angelius until late 2019/early 2020. FW is understaffed, over worked, and GW continues to pile everything on them. Alan was THE driving force behind HH, and with his passing, we have seen little to nothing happening on the Horus Heresy front besides some new vehicle doors and a couple Custodes units. There are more than a few people that think HH will roll over to 8th edition before we see Book VIII.

I'd love to see 7th ed rules for Sanguinious, and to make a Blood Angels army, but with each passing day/week/month/year, I fear the chances become more and more slim.

If they were planning to roll over to 8th(heaven forbid that disaster happens) they wouldn't be releasing new rulebook now would they?

Oh, I want the HH to stay 7th and to finish the Legions with the same edition. FW had to come out with something for a rule book, as the 40K rule book went out of print.

The new HH 7th ed Rulebook is a gorgeous rule book, and well worth the money.

You aren't getting it anymore.
Dark Angels, Dark Mech and Night Lords 2.0 have been dropped from book 8.
Book 8 is now:
Full rules for BA/White Scars
Updates for Alpha Legion.
Rules for Daemons of the Ruinstorm.

Thramas Crusade will be covered separately in about 20 years time.

It was a very pleasant surprise to hear that Forge World is committed to Book VIII: Malevolence to be released by the end of 2018. Can't wait to see Sanguinious in all his glory. I have a feeling we'll be seeing more than a few new Blood Angels players soon. White Scars... meh. Never been a thing for me. How much you want to bet that the Jet Bikes the White Scars use will share a common model with the Dark Angels? The Dark Angels has been one of those armies I've been following since Rogue Trader days, but GW has burned any interest in them as a 40K army out of me a while ago. And in 30K? They kinda seemed like a bunch introverted, self involved, jerks.

That's why the DA got bumped for the White Scars.

They're a meh army. So easier to fill in, because they want to give the DA more flavor with their release.

And I completely disagree with your assessment of the 1st Legion. Yeah, they are like that in 40K no question, but I get the feeling FW is working hard to to get that stigma removed from the 1st. It sounds like they're going to put more work into them in Book 9 then they have in any of the other legions, and that makes me happy.

Personally I'd expect both of them to get conversion kits that build onto the ordinary jetbikes rather than a unique jetbike sculpt, but just because none of the Legions so far have a unique unit that's that big doesn't mean they won't.
