Well, one year, fourh month and 13 pages ago, I started building three knights. And I finally put the last paint drops on the first of them.



Unfortunately, my lightbox is too small for that model, so I improvised some lighting in my living room... Hopefully the pictures are readable.
For those joining in, this model is almost entirely scratch build, with wood, electric wire, plastic bits of various origins including a chocolate egg, and a part of my wife's car. The only 'real' bits are the flags, bolters, skulls, fangs, and of course the ROTTEN_FACTORY cannon (also used for the head).

Back to assembling stuff, started a squad of Primaris Noise marines today.

I say that all the time, but I really love cultists. However, since the release of the 8th and the three games I had, I realized I really lacked cultists with long range rifles. So, let's make some more cultists.

They will be bases on these ~40 old school elves I just received, the long robes and small size look appropriate for them.


While the anvil industry guns arrive, time to get chopping heads and arms !

Tonight, I started converting a ROTTEN_FACTORY sorceror into an heretic magos. He'll naturally receive even more tentacles and the robes will be prolongated over the joint. I also repositionned the right hand to fit the new pose :


I also worked on decapitating the elves, getting them one step closer to cultists :


I then inserted metal rods into their necks


And glued some painting tissues on them :


After a dip in PVA they are now drying, and should provide me with a nice base to build organic looking demon helmets.

Today, I worked on this RottenFactory conversion, he'll make a pretty badass squad leader for one of the cultist squads currently being built


Also added tentacles to the heretic magos and details the bottom of his cloak :


And the cultists are now dry, these should make for nice bases while sculpting the helmets

I also moved my old plague marines to 30mm bases. In their last battle they managed to pass all of their disgustingly resilient saves, making my opponent very sad.

Tonight I finished building a Berzerk out of a reiver.

Evening dakka, I finished 5 cultists today, the pics don't really show the faces, the hoods are probably to blame for that. It will get much more readable once painted.


Also had an unpleasant surprise this morning, as my knight fell from a two meter high shelf, and shattered to the ground. Most probably, an ankle joint gave up, probably earning me a big cup of "I told you so !" . Aaanyway, most of it is already fixed, but just gluing it back gave a pretty wobbly model as a result. At that point, I considered turning in into a Lord Of Skull, but that's no game, I wanted a top heavy knight, I shall get one ! (Although now, I want to build some lord of skull....stupid Kernel Terror !)

In order to get a more stable result, I placed four big woodworking screws through the legs. They go through wood parts on one side, and plastic plates on the other, and the result seems much more stable. Just need to camouflage them with some demonic flesh, and paint it back, it should be good as new).

Also finished a primaris noise marine :


And finished camouflaging the repairs on the knight. This new setup feels stronger than the previous one, we'll see if it holds ^^.

I also started on a pretty nut project; building some kind of dark mech belisarus cawl based on a necron plane and some roots : here are the first steps :

WOW! I must say this "kind of dark mech belisarus cawl" looks very interesting . It reminds me some illustrations made by Ian Miller.

Thanks a lot ! Yeah that should be an interesting build. The base sealant is currently drying, after that I'll be able to mix industrial wires with the roots and shape them all properly, can't wait !

In the mean time, I finished my fifth and last primaris noise marine :

Made some progress on the second knight's torso today, slowly taking shape.

Added more tentacles to the belisarius chaowl, and started working on the body's stance. The gaunt summoner's head will be perfect for that dude.


And added armor plates to the legs of the current WIP knight. the lefs still needs widening aroung the waist.

I really like how the chaos Belisarius Cawl conversion is looking, can't wait to see it more complete.

Added a layer of rolled up clay tentacles tonight. I'll then finish with a last layer of roots. This is going to be a nightmare to paint ^^ !

Wow. Lots of progress on so many fronts. I have to admit. Painting 60 pox walkers has killed my creative juices.

I'm always amazed how, when you convert marines and other infantry, it's really hard to tell what the original model was. That's the sign of an excellent conversion!

Thanks a lot for these kind words CorpusChain, means a lot. And regarding the knight, this is what happens when you incorporate automotive parts in a model ^^. No worries though, the repair looks stronger now !

If I want my magos to be a chaos belisarus cawl, he needs a fancy looking gun and an axe. Here are early versions of both. In each case, I'll be adding more wires, skulls, root tentacles...


And I also duplicated a daemonette claw in order to equip some of the magos' tentacles. I used the following setup based on a hinge and some resin. The results are not exact copies, but in that case, it is a plus.

Really glorious creations, Kernel! Very very imaginative and realistic in their corrupted and warped nature... it would be a pleasure to see these across the tabletop!
How did you manage to make the green stuff stick to the plastic so well? If I try it it usually falls off when it dries....
