Fantastic looking Crons, digging the purple armour and the green shielding. Those Flesh Tearers are looking sweet too.

I hope so! It's never until I start getting a few of the details in that the miniatures start coming together for me, until that point I'm just barging forward in a panic hoping it comes out ok!

gobert wrote:Good to see the Flesh Tearers coming back. They look to be working so far

I've expanded my Space Marines collection a bit so there's gonna be a lot more Flesh Tearers in the future!

youwashock wrote:Looks good. I like the high-contrast highlights.

Thanks youwashock! I'm going for generally higher-contrast on these guys as I settle on a scheme for the Flesh Tearers. We'll see if the high contrast takes a way a bit of the menace of the dark red-and-black scheme. As you can see in the images below, I also went higher contrast on the black, tried bringing a tiny bit of blue hint into the highlights. Not sure if it came through at all, and a lot of it on the backpack is going to be re-tinted red from OSL anyways. We'll see. We're always experimenting, always iterating. Always improving.

Olthannon wrote:Yeah that looks great, tear that flesh!

Thanks Olthannon!

Viterbi wrote:Great start on those Primaris! Although it brings back flashbacks of the horror getting them on their flight stands

Don't worry Viterbi, I have plans... Those curved flight stands are absolutely awful aren't they! I want to avoid using them whenever I can.

As I hinted above, the black is done. I might have gone too light with the highlights, a lot of it really looks more grey than black. But we'll see how it looks once it's all together, I'm not panicking yet.

Thanks for the page carryover, TH!

Y’all were right it looks better now that the tertiary steel is added. Each detail will bring it together from here!

You’ve got to love it when a plan comes together! It’s always funny how minis can look a bit off to the painter until the last few steps, then Whammo! Push on to the end now Gwyn, and good luck with those stands everyone complains about

Thanks Not Online and gobert. Luckily we're at the phase now where we do the exciting details that I love doing, so I expect the pace of updates to increase the next few days (plus I have a few days off work!)

To start off the details, I decided the Sergeant's skull markers are going to be gold. There's no gold elsewhere on the minis, unlike the Tacticals who had some imperial eagle iconography, so he'll stand out.

I like that, it's a subtle detail (I mean, by SM standards) and really stands out

The gold is a nice touch. You get that officer to stand out just a little, so he's a target for enemy snipers.

Thanks all! Yes, I figure if he's gonna wear a helmet, he should at least have a helmet with a nice "laser sight here" marker on the forehead. My Tacticals I put a big red blood drop on the Sgt's head! So there'll always be something.

Next is bullet casings. I actually love painting bullets, something about this particular brass recipe is just so satisfying!

What do you guys think, do you think the black panels on the side of the gun need some freehand?

Control panels! What do these do? Who knows! How do they use them with both hands full of guns that don't appear to have holsters? No idea!

A bit of freehand wouldn’t go amiss on the guns. My Blood Angels use red stripes for kill markings, maybe these guys have similar ideas?

Hm, stripes are an interesting thought. I'll think it over while I do more details. Like these purity seals! I went with a green wax (not quite finished), but I'm quite happy with the scroll itself!

Seems some freehand is a popular opinion! I think I'll do it!

In the meantime, I finished the green wax and did some nice green eye lenses! Oh, and these are now officially Squad 2!

Freehand on the Assault Bolters! You guys were very right.

Some blood drops:

Some stripes and tally marks (which sadly are very hard to see from most angles):

Great work on all those details! And with the tally mark, one stripe hopefully equals at least 100 heretics

Nice! Getting some great Rogue Trader vibes from the tally and “FAITH”, needs some naughty words for the full vibe though

Do I spy some OSL from the jet pack too?

Thanks Olthannon, I'm really glad I went back and brightened it up.

So.

I said I had a plan for basing.

And it's been a bit of a pause, because I wanted to have it totally ready for the big reveal.

But that time is now!
