Hey all about 2 years ago I started working on a fan codex for the Rak'Gol, an otherwise overlooked and interesting race in the 40k universe. I had it mostly fleshed out and ready to tweak points, with full detachment benefits, formations, and cool abilities for 7th. And then 8th rolled around and it's just been sitting on my desktop since then.

But recently I've had a spurt of creativity and tried my hand at updating my fan codex of Rak'Gol to 8th Edition.

There's an obvious lack of relics, points costs are ballpark if they're present at all, and there are no stratagems or [Clutch] benefits just yet. Formatting and wording on most of the rules and entries probably needs cleaned up as well.

Some ideas for stratagems, points costs, weapons or unit additions would be lovely if you would post them!

Give it a look-through and let me know your thoughts, what can be improved, what can be added, really anything. The 7e version was a bit more cohesive, and many of the shortcomings this version has is partly due to them being covered via formations and detachment benefits.

EDIT: Updated file is below, please read it though and suggest more changes!

Awesome. Il give it a look. Rak'Gol would be a great addition to 40k imo.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

UPDATE

Previously mentioned changes have been put in, some clarity added to units and ordering, explanation of hopeful kit production guideline added on the end.

Biggest change in this update is that Cybernetic Augmentations will no longer consume multiple slots. units with higher augmentation values will simply have access to more augmentations that others. Augmentations will still cost points, though i don't have a good estimate for their costs just yet. more augmentations will be more expensive on a model-per-model basis, but will ultimately allow for interesting combos (like +1 BS while re-rolling 1's, all at a cost mind you).

I'll update the original file too, if I can.

If you see anything else, please don't hesitate to post about it! My end goal for this is to get so much input that we can actually start to balance this thing out, and then 3D print some proxies and play test this thing!
