Hi,

I've been a regular painter of GW figures for well over 15 years now and although I mostly play Blood Bowl and Necromunda I've gradually been building up a Black Legion force.

I've chosen the models simply on how much I like their appearance but now I'm faced with a bit of a dilemma, our group has decided that it's time to branch out into one of the main GW flagship games, 40K.  I've got an army all painted up and ready to go but as I'm a complete novice at this system I've no idea if it's legal or even workable.

I'd appreciate any advice people can give me on whether or not it's viable and/or any suggestions that'd improve my chances on the gaming table.  As I'm pretty sure I'll be the only one with a fully painted up force I'd hate to lose to a primered side with stand-ins.

The army list is below, please note that I've no idea what the grand total points cost is.  I'm also working on a WYSIWYG principle:

Chaos Lord - Plasma pistol and power axe.

-

Standard Bearer - Bolt pistol

-

1 Sorceror - Bolt pistol and staff

-

9 CSM - 7 with bolters, 1 with multi-melta, 1 with Heavy Bolter

1 Aspiring champion - Plasma pistol and power fist

-

9 CSM - 7 with bolters, 2 with plasma guns

1 Aspiring champion - Bionics, bolter/melta and chainsword

-

2 Obliterators

-

1 Chaos dreadnaught - Plasma cannon, power fist and flamer

-

1 Chaos dreadnaught - Twin-linked lascannon, missile launcher and havoc launcher

-

1 Defiler - Twin-linked autocannon and either havoc launcher or heavy flamer (Not too sure which one t'use yet)

-

7 Khorne bezerkers - 6 with bolt pistols and chainswords/axes, 1 with bolt pistol and standard

1 Khorne bezerker aspiring champion - plasma pisotl and chain axe

1 Rhino transport - Smoke Launchers and bolter/flamer (No extra armour, going with the fluff on this and decided that the chosen sons of the blood god would shun such cowardly protection )

-

5 Terminators - 3 with storm bolters and power weapons, 1 with heavy flamer and power weapon, 1 with reaper autocannon and power weapon

1 Terminator champion - Storm bolter/melta combo and power weapon.

-

9 Raptors - 6 with bolt pistols and chainsword, 1 with plasma gun, 1 with flamer, 1 with melta

1 Raptor champion - Lightning claws

-

1 Chaos predator. I'm in the process of building this one and think I'm going t'go for the twin-linked lascannons and heavy bolters configuration as I think that'll give me a good armour/troop stoppage power.

Further down the line I'll be picking up 2 rhinos (one with ablative armour, one with reinforced armour) for my two CSM squads, 1 land raider, some bloodletters to make us of the Khornate standard and 5 havocs (2 with autocannons and two with missile launchers).

So there you have it, my Black Legion force.  Any suggestions, advice and tips welcome.

Your list is mostly legal.
9 CSM - 7 with bolters, 1 with multi-melta, 1 with Heavy Bolter Does the melta model have 1 barrel or 2 on the gun? A single barrel is for a melta gun (legal), 2 barrels would be a multimelta (not legal)

Standard Bearer & Khorn Standard: you can use these in 1 of two ways. Buy a unit of chosen (command squad) and have a literal standard bearer. Or, use them as Icons in the troop units (including the bezerkers) for demon sumoning.

A standard list only allows for 3 heavy units. The Dreadnaughts, Defiler, Predator & Havocs are all heavy choices.

Cheers fella, appreciated.

The melata has just the one barrel so I'm assuming it's okay.

The Khorne standard bearer is indeed in with the rest of the Bezerkers, from what I've read in WD and on this and other forums I understand it's a good trick to get them into combat as quickly as possible before summoning any daemons?

So I've got to knock off two choices?  Are any significantly more effective than the others?

Again, thanks for the advice, it's just what I need.
