Hello, I'm wanting to do my first 40k campaign with a friend and I'm having trouble coming up with a good story for it. He's a pure Grey Knights player and I'm a Tyranid/GSC cult player. I'm having trouble figuring out why GKs (daemon hunters) would be fighting off a Tyranid invasion. Any background or story you could help me come up with would be greatly appreciated!

it's possiable that a inqusitor screwed the pooch and thought a genestealer cult was actually a chaos cult.

Tyranids are at risk causing blood to flow to a Chaos Shrine beneath a planet’s surface. The Grey Knights are fighting their way to stop the Shrine from summoning Khorne Daemons.

One of the older Codexes has a list of reasons why Grey Knights will fight other armies. For Orks for example there was the Orks are using Daemon Artifacts or one is possessed by a daemon and such.

Perhaps the Nids could be threatening a nearby Imperial Shrine. Some guy could be thinking "Crud, chaos", and run to the nearest inquisitor
